Bike Path & Walkway Trailhead at Drake/Chavez Park: what do users think?

kev pai: The Bike Path & Walkway Trailhead at Drake/Chavez Park is a good starting point to the Drake/Chavez Greenbelt. The entrance is located directly at the corner of Anaheim Street and Daisy Avenue in the City of Long Beach, California. As you walk/bike the concrete pathway, you'll find an artificial turf soccer field, an informal natural turf field, landscaped open space/passive park areas, a pedestrian walking trail and onsite parking spaces next to the Adventures to Dreams Enrichment community garden. You'll also notice multiple tables and spacious grass areas to have a picnic and enjoy nature. The trail was once inhabited by many homeless encampments but the area has since been cleaned up and maintained by city staff and local contractors. See if you can spy a few interesting items along the trail such as a fake giant redwood tree, a large metal sign from Jesse James’ West Coast Choppers and a few colorful murals.Along the trail you'll find the new stairway and ADA ramp which will take you to the Drake Park tennis courts and the famous Historic Bembridge House. You can also choose to stay on the trail and travel on DeForest Avenue all the way to the Willmore Heritage Garden and the Historic Jergins Trust Pillars. Both points of interest is located near the end of Maine Avenue and 7th Street along the entrance of the 710 freeway.More development is beginning to take shape near the Shoemaker Bridge adjacent to the LA River. The City of Long Beach and the department of Parks, Recreation and Marine has plans to develop the 5.81 acre into a park and wetland. The plan is to connect Cesar Chavez Park in Downtown Long Beach and Drake Park in the Willmore City Historic District. This is great news for kids and families in the community.

Long Beach Bike Fit: what do users think?

Anthony Vasquez: I have been an avid road cyclist for many years, but I have never sat for a professional bike fit until about a week ago. This weekend I went for my first ride after the bike fit, and I have never felt more comfortable and efficient on the bike.Thank you, Nathan!

Gabe Grimstad: Nate’s experience and skill set in bike fitting is excellent. I am a local endurance coach who sends all of my triathletes to Nate for their bike fits. All of my athletes comfort and performance has improved tremendously post bike fit.

John Mooney: I’ll be short and sweet here, Nate is a pro.I had done various tweaks and adjustments trying to chase down a better fit on my bike and still was having issues.Nate not only fixed these but talked me through what he was fixing and why he was doing it. He also talked to me about why I had originally moved things, all of this in service of helping me understand how all the composite pieces and adjustments work with my body. The fit was great, feel great on the bike. The education provided was a very nice touch, I’m a knowledge junkie and it was like attending an in person master class.Looking forward to fitting any more bikes I get here.

Wayne Joseph: Will recommend my friends to Nate. Got me back on track after 14 months of the bike and over weightI am pleased with his bike fit

Peter Yuan: Really great experience. It was my first time getting a bike fit and Nate was patient, explained everything he was doing, and an all around pro at what he does. The bike fit fixed a lot of issues I had with comfort with my bike. Couldn't recommend him enough!

Jeffrey Kerbel: Very glad I brought my road bike here for a fit before logging too many miles on it. Nate’s approach to the fitting process was everything I could have hoped for as a physical therapist with an appreciation for trying to optimize body mechanics. His attention to detail, communication of his thought process in an easy to understand manner, and avoidance of any extra equipment recommendations without a good reason and observed improvement in the fit, made the whole experience well worth it.Bike is feeling great now, and a 15% improvement in my FTP just from the new fit goes to show how off the mark I’d have been on my own. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Paul Kadletz: Nate is surely a master of the craft. He assisted me in a Tri fit, and was extremely detail oriented and precise with all of his adjustments. I was doubtful of the price point going into it, but after the fact, have no doubts that his services are worth every penny. Thanks Nate!

Johnny Lam: , Nate takes the time to review everything with you, step by step. Nate explains what and why he's doing what he's doing. He offers suggestions as to things that might work better for you but is not overly pushy with selling anything. Which I LOVE! No one likes to feel like they don't have options and you HAVE to buy from them to supplement their revenue.Lastly, the thing that I loved most was that he offers to continue answering any questions might have or you can even come back to once or twice, if after the fitting something is off and not right. Or if you get something new put on and need to have it readjusted, he's open to helping. That is just plain great!! The relationship feels like it is something you can build on, that he really does want to help and it is not so transactional, like other fittings can be.

The Bicycle Stand: what do users think?

Gerry: I have been here twice in the last month and both times the guys have been very courteous and helpful. The work they did was very satisfactory and very reasonable price wise.

James: Best shop in Long Beach area. Knowledgeable and friendly local shop for new and used bikes, parts and accessories and repairs.

Ryan Phillips: If you’re looking for a bike shop this is the place. The service is unreal, prices are fair, and the staff is super kind. Had a little issue with my frame coming off the back wheel and Eric helped us fix it 5 minutes

tamai johnson: Friendly folk here! Patrick is the best! He is very knowledgeable. 😊

Jan Kwiatowski: I came in with a very small problem before they closed for the night, thinking/hoping it would be a free repair, but really hoping it wouldn't spiral into a bigger problem, you never know. I rely on my bike to commute full time, so even if I had to over pay i would be good. No problem, you win some you lose some. Sure enough, free fix. Thank you!

Feel Good: These friendly gentlemen know their stuff. Shout out to Evan, he's a bicycle wizard.

take tonbo: Vintage galore in a rustic old building. A shop filled with top quality vintage bikes. Knowledgeable team in repair shopLike a bicycle Museum not just a stand!Always fun to pop in and see what’s hanging from the ceiling

Janina Perez: Really cool spot for almost everything for everyone on a Sunday splurge. I got myself a new u-lock,bike chain lube and goood conversation.

Daniel: Great service, will be coming back for any bike repairs I need again

Sarah Chalek: They're very good. It's a much better bike shop than the one on 4th st.

Matt Berg: Great local. Love going there whenever I want to feel welcome and not spend too much. Impressive variety of vegetarian options. Try the inside patio. Pet friendly!

Kevin Bradley: Awesome shop, really great staff!

Matt Cohn: Beautiful shop and excellent mechanics! Israel made great repair recommendations and now my bike feels perfect.

Li: The crowd I was assisted by was overall helpful. They helped and we chatted Israel and Eric made themselves a servicing bunch and I was able to get my bicycle fixed.

Benjamin Morrow: Five stars for their customer service alone. Plus it’s a cool little shop!

Steven Marshall: Bike Stand is a good bike shop. Very reasonable price on some items. I had my wheel built for a reasonable fee. They also carry a lot of classic bikes and bike parts. Check it out.
