Dancey Memorial COGIC’s Vacation Bible School 2023 – Celebrating “Who God Made You To Be”

We are delighted to invite you to join us for Vacation Bible School 2023, presented by Dancey Memorial Church of God in Christ (COGIC). This spiritually enriching experience will take place from June 20th through June 22nd, accessible conveniently via Facebook and Zoom.

Our theme for this year, “Who God Made You To Be,” focuses on celebrating individual uniqueness and divine purpose. Through thoughtful discussions and interactive sessions, we aim to foster an environment where participants can explore their God-given identities, promoting a deeper understanding of their unique roles within a life of faith.

We know trying something new can sometimes be intimidating, but don't worry! Though many of our members come to church by themselves each week, you can sign up to have your local missionaries accompany you if you'd like.

We believe in following the example of Jesus Christ. This includes feeding the hungry, helping the needy, clothing the naked, and serving in our communities all around the world. Come join us!

Yes. Your local congregation has something for individuals of all ages.

Yes. Many of our members come to church by themselves each week. But if you'd like someone to attend with you the first time, you can sign up here!

There's no requirement to participate. On your first Sunday, you can sit back and just enjoy the service. If you want to participate by taking the sacrament or responding to questions, you're welcome to. Do whatever feels comfortable to you.

You can always count on one main meeting where we take the sacrament to remember the Savior, followed by classes separated by age groups or general interests.

Please wear whatever attire you feel comfortable wearing. In general, attendees wear "Sunday best," which could include button-down shirts, ties, slacks, skirts, and dresses.

About The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oakland

Attending church each Sunday is a respite from fast-paced daily living. Attend church at 4780 Lincoln Avenue to reflect, worship God, strengthen your spiritual connections, and focus on Jesus. Worship with a community of people who are trying to be more Christlike and learn from each other. There are two meetings in a two hour time. The main meeting is called sacrament meeting. This meeting consists of songs, prayers, and sermons (or “talks”) given by different members of the congregation and take the sacrament (or Communion). In addition to sacrament meeting, there are a variety of other classes for both children and adults. There’s something for everyone from 18 months old and up! Each meet together for a lesson and discussion that are based on a different section of scripture each week.
