We are pleased that you are visiting us today. If this is your first time with us, we hope this web page is helpful to you.

We are a liturgical church, which means we have a very precise way of worshipping. We have written prayers and specific ways of worshipping that have been passed down through the centuries. We believe this gives us a continuity of worship and a connection with our past. Consequently, we believe that, when we worship, we worship with everyone, past, present, and future, at the same time. We also believe that this type of service better enables us to worship God by turning us away from ourselves and toward Him.

If you choose to worship with us, please do not worry if you are not quite sure what to do. Most of our parishioners came from other faiths and started out as unsure as you might be. And all of us understand. We would suggest that, the first time you worship with us, you let the service and the Holy Spirit wash over you. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the pomp, majesty, and mystery of what you are experiencing. And please remember what C.S. Lewis said about our service – it is like a dance. Once you know the steps, it will become second nature to you. We also want you to know that, in our church, all Christians who have been baptized in the Name of the Holy Trinity, and who love our Lord Jesus Christ, are welcome to receive Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion), no matter from which denomination they may have come.

We are very committed to the spiritual growth of each and every one of our Parishioners. This includes our Sunday School program for the children and our Sunday Services, as well as Baptism, Catechesis, and Confirmation Classes for all who desire them. On the first Sunday of each month during our service of Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m., we administer the Sacrament of Holy Unction (or Anointing with Holy Oil) to help heal anyone who is ill or broken-hearted. We also recognize that Christ commands us to help the “least of our brothers.” And to that end, we have several missions with which we are currently involved. Through our food drives, we support a food pantry for the poor and homeless.

As Christians, we are committed to the Great Commission to spread the Gospel throughout all the world and feel our mission in our own country has become increasingly important. And, we see ourselves in our church as a family. We care for each other and are concerned about each other. Anonymity therefore is not an option at our Church.

We hold the faith which is common to all the believers (Titus 1:4, Jude 3):

St. Luke’s is an Anglo-Catholic parish in the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real. (Think “smells and bells.”) We provide a place of peace, beauty, and relationship that reflects God’s saving presence through our rich tradition, our intellectual curiosity, and our work in the wider community.
