I was permanently retired from the Coast Guard for this condition in 2012, and I have endured a very long road of conservative treatment. While those treatments have been effective for short term relief, they have also proven to just mask a deeper issue in that sometimes things are just broken that need to be fixed. You took the time to listen to my struggles, and you truly care about me as a patient. More importantly, I feel a deep sense of caring for me as a person and knew that what I was experiencing before surgery was painfully debilitating. Naz Oviedo: I was referred to Dr Farin for second opinion in regard to severe pain due to bulged disk on my neck. The first neurosurgeon recommended surgery as the only option to ease the pain. Dr Farin patiently listened , checked the images and explained to me in detail the cause of the pain. She told me there was absolutely no need for surgery and my pain could be easily managed with medication, and physical therapy. She was so right and i am so glad i followed her opinion. It has been three years since then and i am doing fine. I followed up with her last month as routine check up and she reviewed the new MRI images and told me my neck disks looks good and again nothing to worry about. Deborah Howard: I am a 66 yr old female. Dr.Farin met me 5 months after I had surgery for a Laminectomy and a Fusion. I had 2 pinched nerves that had gotten so bad in my left leg that I had gotten to the point I could barely walk and the pain was unbearable. Soon after surgery I had gone back to the spine surgeon and told him how bad my leg still was, his words to me were, “we did everything right.” And left the room. She then ordered yet more tests, one being a Milogram which showed her and a very qualified Radiologist that bone spurs and other things were not done properly, in other words she had to “clean it all up.” I had grown to know Dr Farin in a short time but my TRUST in her was there.She immediately moved her schedule around and on June 6th I went back into surgery. After surgery I knew how hard she had worked and I finally had a smile on my face which she had never seen. She noticed it and for once I felt everything was going to be ok. I hadn’t even stood yet but I just had this feeling she had worked so hard in surgery on me that I was going to be ok. I’ve been home a little over a week now and I’m walking with no pain. This Dr gave her all to me and there aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to her.
