Lots of activities here for a night out including pool, beer pong, bull ride, and That being said they are militant about people knowing the dances so it’s not so novice friendly. But yeah the cowboy culture here - it’s strong. You get what you’re looking for.

He challenges you without picking on you. It's one of those classes that is a workout and you burn a good amount of calories, build muscle, etc. but it doesn't feel like work because it's just fun and the time flies by.

Nancy Villalta: I first came across Level Up Studio by attending one of their monthly socials in 2015. At that time, I was only taking classes at a salsa club once a week. I did not know the proper technique, styling, and timing for Latin dances.With over thirty years of experience, Bernard is one of the most knowledgeable dance instructors in the county. He was able to point out my bad habits within a few lessons. He talked to me about my technique in a one on one setting. Within a few months, I was able to fix my bad habits and build a more solid foundation. If you’re interested in learning how to dance, I highly recommend starting at Level Up and avoid taking classes at clubs. In my experience, it was harder to break my bad habits than to begin learning the right way. I felt it hindered my growth. If you compare the knowledge you received from the club versus dance studio setting, the prices aren’t comparable, but you will receive far greater value at the dance studio.It is now 2020, and I’m still learning from Bernard. He’s dance experience seems endless. He is excellent at breaking down a move step by step and has a unique ability to compare the moves to everyday activities. For instance, he’ll explain a reverse body roll is like putting on a pantie hose. The energy travels from your foot and moves up.His classes are fun, energized, and even humorous; he loves telling dad jokes. Give Level Up a try, it’s a great way to meet people, and to call something your own.Dancing has provided me with a great partner, amazing friends, and a lifetime hobby. I hope to see you there!

Veronica Larkin: For a long time I had the desire to get back into salsa and was very excited to find this location in Long Beach. The instructors are amazing and take their time in showing you great techniques to ensure you progress as a dancer. I've been taking classes for over a year and have no intentions of stopping . It is a great environment to not only learn but also create long lasting friendships. I encourage you to give it a try. They offer 6 week courses in salsa, bachata, cha-cha-cha, and other types of dances in addition to also having socials once a month where you can practice and show off the dancing moves you learned during class. Vanessa Amaya: This place changed my life. I’ve been dancing here for over a year now. They offer Beginners Salsa, Intermediate Salsa, Cha Cha, and Bachata classes in 6 week intervals. Lucky for me they have an unlimited dance class option. Bernard is a phenomenal instructor who really engages the class and properly teaches the fundamentals. Perfect place to have fun, learn, and meet new people. They also have a dance Social every month where you can practice all the new moves you’ve learned.

Danny Archambault: We celebrated my wife's birthday and had such a nice time. The food was great and sangria was flowing. The Flamenco dancers and Spanish guitarist we're great. We will definitely go back. The only thing I would say is the drinks were a little expensive. Fifty five dollars for a pitcher of sangria is a touch high.

They offer classes in ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, hula, hip hop, contemporary, vocal, and theater classes. The front desk staff is friendly, inviting and very helpful. The dance instructors are encouraging, caring and knowledgeable. Kick it Up offers opportunities to compete and perform with their dance teams. The competition teams compete at Regional comps around the Long Beach area and at Nationals in Las Vegas. They also offer Performance teams that have performed at the CSULB basketball half time shows, Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland, USC basketball games, the Orange County Fair and even the Clippers vs. Lakers game at the Staples Center. Ms. Susan, the owner is outgoing, has a strong head for business and is cordial to everyone she meets. She remembers everyone’s name, kids and parents alike, and treats everyone with respect. She is always on the look out for new, innovative and exciting opportunities for the studio. Kick it Up offers programs that most studios do not have. Currently, Kick it Up offers the Dance Step program, a dance education and leadership program, that allows students to aid in the classroom and learn to give back to the studio community by helping to encourage and support younger students. The students who undertake this program learn leadership skills and are empowered by their new found abilities. Kick it Up also belongs to YPAD, Youth Protection Advocates In Dance and they make sure that the dancers are safe and learn age appropriate choreography. There are two Recitals per year, Winter Showcase and the June Recital. Recently, Kick it up has added dance shoes to their merchandise line. Tap, ballet, jazz and lyrical shoes are now available to purchase in the studio. Really fortuitous, when you need shoes right away, or if you are a new student without shoes. The main draw at Kick it Up is the caring studio community. Kick it Up is a family, and you feel that family atmosphere if you hang out in the lobby for any significant amount of time. Parents are friendly, even the competition dance moms get along, and all the students are supportive and encourage one another.
