kev pai: The Bike Path & Walkway Trailhead at Drake/Chavez Park is a good starting point to the Drake/Chavez Greenbelt. The entrance is located directly at the corner of Anaheim Street and Daisy Avenue in the City of Long Beach, California. As you walk/bike the concrete pathway, you'll find an artificial turf soccer field, an informal natural turf field, landscaped open space/passive park areas, a pedestrian walking trail and onsite parking spaces next to the Adventures to Dreams Enrichment community garden.You'll also notice multiple tables and spacious grass areas to have a picnic and enjoy nature. The trail was once inhabited by many homeless encampments but the area has since been cleaned up and maintained by city staff and local contractors. See if you can spy a few interesting items along the trail such as a fake giant redwood tree, a large metal sign from Jesse James’ West Coast Choppers and a few colorful murals.Along the trail you'll find the new stairway and ADA ramp which will take you to the Drake Park tennis courts and the famous Historic Bembridge House. You can also choose to stay on the trail and travel on DeForest Avenue all the way to the Willmore Heritage Garden and the Historic Jergins Trust Pillars. Both points of interest is located near the end of Maine Avenue and 7th Street along the entrance of the 710 freeway.More development is beginning to take shape near the Shoemaker Bridge adjacent to the LA River. The City of Long Beach and the department of Parks, Recreation and Marine has plans to develop the 5.81 acre into a park and wetland. The plan is to connect Cesar Chavez Park in Downtown Long Beach and Drake Park in the Willmore City Historic District. This is great news for kids and families in the community.

Justine Molinari: Skate park was pretty rad and gnarly, just needs more frequent upkeep as there was a lot of trash all over and some broken glass too, so kinda unsafe for a place that you might take a fall at, especially with kids. The kids' park was mostly clean and also safe. A good park, big and green, community center, you can just tell that it's one of the places around where funding has been lacking presumably.

Phil3636: Very simple minimalistic skatepark. Just a few rails and ledges, which of course is all the majority of skaters need. Zero transition here.A hot spot for local professional skaters. The skill level of everyone here is very high. Don't bring your kids on scooters, this ain't that type of park.5 minutes from the beach is a bonus.

The park serves approximately 32,000 residents who live within a half-mile radius. The park has a playground, skate park, performance area, picnic area and public art.
Sustainable design features that include the use of recycled pavement, a bioswale that retains and filters storm water, large canopied trees and a new green space in a fully built-out area.
Improvements to the area around the park include, street improvements, additional landscaping, improved drainage system, new bus stops, and new sidewalks that meet current disabled access regulations.
The development of the park was made possible through $2.83 Million in funds secured from the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (Prop 84).
The land for Gumbiner Park was formerly the trisection of 7th Street, Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. and Alamitos Avenue. The area had high incidents of traffic accidents and now offers green space and enhanced access to the Museum of Latin American Art and the Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum.
On June 9, 2015, the Long Beach City Council voted to name the park in honor of Dr. Robert Gumbiner, a health care pioneer and philanthropist who opened the nearby Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in 1996. As a doctor and an administrator, Dr. Gumbiner guided the growth of his small medical practice into one of the largest HMO's in the country, FHP International. He made additional contributions to Long Beach’s cultural and artistic legacy by founding the Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum, which opened in October 2010, 21 months after he died in January 2009 at the age of 85.

Tee Cee: Great park has lights and is fun but it's very small. Come at night or early in the am it's less packed
Are Ee: Fun little park.Very well made. It basically has two quarter pipes on each end, with some obstacles in between. Ledges, rails, the Spohn Ranch signature cement ball.The quarter pipes are mellow, well made. Maybe 3 feet high? Three and a half? This is a good spot to learn to drop in at.This is such a park it can get crowded quickly. If there are like 4 people or more there, it starts to feel crowded.Seriously it is smaller than a basketball court.The other bummer is the parking situation.Seems like no free parking nearby, and even finding metered parking nearby can be a pain.Definitely worth checking out if You are in the area.Have Fun!

Arcángel MAAZE: Great park, the parking lot has some sketchy people , but overall, great park. The pitch is always locked but it makes sense because the ex-con , bums would trash it and make it dirty, nasty. It's kept pretty decent and a variety of fitness equipment.
