4worldlovers: The Growing Experience is an urban farm and community garden located within the Carmelitos Public Housing Development in North Long Beach, California. The site contains a 2.5-acre community and 60 raised garden beds for families to grow their own produce, and safe green space for community events and recreation.

Effective July 1, 2021, the LACDA has begun shifting the service delivery model to working with local non-profit partners to maintain and operate the urban farm and community garden, and provide resident and community enrichment programming.

At this time, volunteers and community donations are not being accepted.

Whether you choose a Large box or Regular, you will receive an abundance of favorites and seasonal specialty items like carrots, potatoes, leafy greens, culinary herbs, eggs, and fruit items as they roll in from the fields. The roots for Grow2Zero FARMS took hold in October 2016 when former high school classmates Judi Gregory and Leif Kemp reconnected over a shared vision of community resilience.

After serving in the US Marine Corps and working in the commercial sector, Leif had founded Semper Fi Growers, a nonprofit organization aiming to help fellow veterans establish their own independent vertical farms. In parallel experiences, Judi served in the US Army National Guard and then founded her own company, Go2Zero Strategies, LLC, which consults on Zero Waste and Sustainability projects throughout Southern California.
