Judo is a traditional Japanese martial art and popular self-defense sport that involves a strategic combination of throws, grappling, wrestling, joint locks and chokes to subdue an opponent. Our dojo is located in the heart of Costa Mesa and welcomes practitioners of all ages and skill levels in our judo classes. Our vision is to educate, train, and grow strong, well-rounded judokas, both inside and outside the dojo, and contribute in growing the judo community in California.


Open to children ages 3 to 12 years old, the goal of this class is introduce our Junior Judokas to the sport, its disciplines and etiquette.

The Fundamentals class is open to all students ages 13 and up, and will be taught by Sensei Mohammed Ghasemi.

The Advanced class is open to all students ages 13 and up, with a rank of green belt or higher, and focuses on improving fundamentals.

A successful judoka must understand how to earn and give respect to his/her peers and community.

Educating our members that all students, regardless of rank, will be afforded the same opportunities.

4worldlovers: Our Classes are done in a very controlled environment, where safety always comes first. Instructors make sure that care is taken in every movement taught, and the importance of student safety is of the utmost. In the Fundamentals Class, we cover basic Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) techniques and the fundamental movements of Jiu-Jitsu, including self-defense strategy and maneuvers. Students will learn how to fall, stand up, engage opponents, escape holds, apply basic take-downs, and apply basic submissions. The elemental movements you master here will prepare you for all subsequent levels.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds.

BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). A student can train in BJJ for self defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling) and mixed martial arts competition. Orange County Judo Training Center offers an ongoing No-Gi Combat Judo class and Self Defense class. The students are introduced to basic body movement, balance and footwork. Striking, kicking, and evasion techniques effective in a no-gi scenarios are also shown. Students learn by variety of drills, and light sparring. Techniques and drills will focus on applying judo throws and takedowns, joint locks, and chokes holds against an attacker. Striking and evasion skills are reinforced through contact drills and training with striking pads, augmented with judo takedowns and submission techniques.
