    4worldlovers: Downey United Methodist Nursery School began in 1965 with one director and a single teacher. The simple idea of beginning each new day with love and understanding has grown into four classrooms, five mornings a week. Our purpose is to provide children a loving environment where they may grow, develop, learn and be equipped for future education. The program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children 2 1/2-5 years of age. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child's cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

    A child's work is PLAY! In play, children are learning how to learn. They are exploring and experimenting as they build relationships with their world and themselves. We encourage the six C's: Confidence, Competence, Cooperation, Coordination, Consideration, and Compassion. Our goal is to create a stimulating environment to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of each child.

    We believe in using a child-centered approach to learning with the teacher as role model and guide. Teachers will be responsible for providing age-appropriate learning opportunities and will enable each child to learn at their own pace.
