The Alliance Française de Pasadena offers cultural events which allows its members to be in contact with the French language and the French-speaking cultures. We teach French to all age groups. It is the opportunity to join a community of Francophones and Francophiles and to practice French outside the classroom.


Walk and Lunch in the Arroyo - in French and English


Join us Saturday May 20 at 10:00 for a walk and lunch with Board Members Sylvie andElizabeth in the Lower Arroyo Seco in Pasadena. The walk is four miles, with very little elevation gain, and highlights include walking under the Colorado Street Bridge, seeing remnants of the original Busch Gardens, perhaps catching the Pasadena Roving Archers at practice and the city’s casting pool for practicing fly fishing, home of the Pasadena Casting Club. Lunch will be at the picnic area near the casting pool and is provided in the cost of the event. Restrooms are available at the picnic area.


Walkers are welcome to walk the entire four miles, do an abbreviated walk at one and 3/4 miles, or to just meet the group for lunch etc.


Participants should wear appropriate walking shoes and bring water and sun protection.

We will send detailed information where to meet after your RSVP.

Join us for this fun walk and a chance to see a bit of Pasadena history, to learn more about sporting activities in the area, and to speak French with other walkers!

Film Screening of Madan Sara followed by Q&A with director/producer Etant Dupain

The event is in English in person at the Alliance Française de Pasadena.

Screening on Wednesday June 7 at 7 pm Pacific time followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Etant Dupain.

The film Madan Sara by Haïtian journalist Etant Dupain centers on the informal status of women in Haitian society and their importance to that same society and how it functions. Madan Saras deliver goods throughout the country and usually sell their goods in the public marketplaces to support their families. However, it is dangerous work because they are subject to being robbed, to disruption on the street which holds up commerce, and other dangers. Most of the time they are not protected by the authorities.

After the screening, Mr. Dupain will join us via zoom to talk about the film, the issues it raises and the overall climate for women entrepreneurs and Madan Saras in Haiti.
