4worldlovers: As the the 2022-23 school year nears it's end, there's a lot going at Adelanto High School! First and foremost, Mayor Reyes, Mayor Pro Tem Ramos, and the City Council would like to congratulate the Class of 2023!

The Class of 2023, their parents, teachers, and community have worked tirelessly to push through some very challenging situations." said Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Ramos. "Our graduates will move on to become the next generation of educators, leaders, parents, civil servants, and so much more. Regardless of where life may take them, they'll always be able to call Adelanto 'home' and know that Adelanto High School gave them the support needed to build a firm educational foundation and sense of community."

In late April, the Adelanto High School 9th grade BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) students spent several hours at City Hall learning about local government. Municipal staff spoke with students about their roles in various departments, including Code Enforcement, Land Use, Engineering, and Information Technology. Rather that a formal lecture or meeting, students were given an opportunity to engage directly with City officials. The freshman BARR students ask a myriad of well thought out and insightful questions.


City Manager Flores and his administration were proud to host the the group of Adelanto HS students and encouraged the BARR advisors to make this an annual event. "Forming and fostering relationships with the youth of our community helps to build a foundation of trust mutual respect." said City Manager Flores. "This administration is proud to partner with Adelanto High School's BARR Program and we look forward to connecting with students and staff again next year."

Adelanto High School's Automotive Pathway was recently recognized at the Mountain Desert Career Pathways 2023 Appreciation Gala as the Pathway of the Year for Automotive Systems Diagnostics, Service, and Repair. David Mendoza, the school's Career Technical Education (CTE) Automotive Pathway teacher and Automotive Club advisor, proudly accepted the award at the ceremony.

Established in 1952 by the United States Senate and House of Representatives, the National Day of Prayer is observed every year on the first Thursday of May. This interfaith tradition is celebrated amongst Americans from all walks of life, belief systems, and levels of observance. The focus of the National Day of Prayer is to encourage citizens to connect with their higher power in an effort to pray or meditate for the well-being of everyone in America.


This time honored tradition will be observed at City Hall on May 4th at noon. Local religious leaders will be present to lead this collective effort. Adelanto's Auburn Avenue paving project is well underway and set to be completed by summer of 2023. This project will include new paving on Auburn Avenue from Highway 395 to Adelanto Road. Our crews will also pave Jonathan Street from Auburn Avenue to Barcelona Avenue. In addition, one block of Pearmain Street will be paved from Vintage Road to Chamberlain Way.


This capital improvement project is paving the road for industrial growth in this area of our City. Infrastructure investments, such as freshly laid asphalt and utility expansions, attract economic development. This translates to the creation of future jobs and opportunities for our local residents.
