4worldlovers: San Pablo Lodge #43 participated in our first ever parade! So many Vallejoans never heard of our lodge or knew it was there. Fun was had by all!

San Pablo Lodge #43 will celebrate our 165th year on August 18th, 2020. If it weren’t for the pandemic we’d have a big party. We’ll have a big makeup party later.

San Pablo Lodge #43 celebrated our 164th year on August 18th. We have another milestone to celebrate this year too!

Yay – Hooray! We’ve passed the fire inspection for use of the 2nd floor, We can now have 200 people in our grand ballroom rather than the previous restriction of 49. We no longer need to get a special waiver from VFD to have big events on the 2nd floor. (Still LOTS to do for the upper floors’ fire code and elevator access.) Special Thanks to Santa Rosa #53 for making this happen.

We’re launching a fundraiser for all the work needed on our building. Please share widely. If you can’t donate, consider joining our team and volunteering.

The ODDFilm Free Series – Fritz Lang’s M with Peter Lorre

Saturday, March 23, 2019 – Join us for the premiere of our monthly ODD Film Series.

When the police in a German city are unable to catch a child-murderer, other criminals join in the manhunt.

No admission. Popcorn, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages for sale. Auditorium seating in the Second Floor Grand Ballroom. Feel free to bring cushions or blankets to pad our folding metal chairs.

Made in 1931, at the dawn of the sound era, “M” is a true spine-chiller. Beside it, almost all other movies about serial killers seem like child’s play. To explain the film’s central position, we need only note that Lang was the moviemaker from whom Alfred Hitchcock learned suspense and Luis Bunuel learned how to shock.

“M” was Lang’s first sound picture, and he was wise to use dialogue so sparingly. Many early talkies felt they had to talk all the time, but Lang allows his camera to prowl through the streets and dives, providing a rat’s-eye view. One of the film’s most spectacular shots is utterly silent, as the captured killer is dragged into a basement to be confronted by the city’s assembled criminals, and the camera shows their faces: hard, cold, closed, implacable.

Now being held in our ground floor storefront, the Decades Dance Parties return every second Friday. All profits go to the Lodge.

Come join us at the Odd fellows, San Pablo Lodge #43, Ballroom on Friday, December 8th, after the Vallejo Art Walk in downtown Vallejo.

For this one we’ll be going all out, with songs from every decade in the modern music era, with all the top hits of the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, with even a few Rocking Christmas songs from the 50s and 60s thrown in as well!

We’re doing it a little different this time, instead of having the decades switch over by certain times, we’ll be playing ALL the Decades ALL the time, so you might here 3-4 80s New Wave songs followed by a few 90s songs, followed by a bunch of 70s Disco songs and so on. So no need to wait, we’ll be playing everything all night long in rotating song blocks throughout the entire evening from 8pm to 2am! Just request what you want to hear and we’ll play it.
