Dr. Garrett S. Matsunaga graduated with honors from Brown University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society

Dr. Matsunaga completed his urologic surgical residency at the University of California, Irvine. He worked closely with internationally renowned urologists Dr. Ralph Clayman and Dr. Thomas Ahlering receiving specialized training in advanced, minimally-invasive laparoscopic, robotic, and endourologic techniques. He earned several awards including the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon Award and Long Beach Veteran’s Outstanding Customer Service and Outstanding Resident Awards. He has authored several book chapters on laparoscopy and robotic surgery as well as published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.
