Dr. Buchsbaum is Board Certified in Allergy/Immunology and Internal Medicine and is one of the founding partners of South Bay Allergy & Asthma. Having treated thousands of patients during his career, he finds it particularly rewarding to now be able to apply recent exciting advances in the treatment of severe asthma, skin allergies and food sensitivities, being able to tell patients that we can more effectively control their allergic condition. Most allergic and immunologic disorders, whether severe and life-threatening or chronic and at times debilitating, have a tremendous impact on daily function. He especially enjoys working with patients and their families, figuring out cause and developing a treatment plan that is effective and easy to follow. Originally from New York, Dr. Buchsbaum and his wife are avid road cyclists and enjoy cycling trips in the states and Europe, skiing, hiking, theater and music. They raised three daughters in Palos Verdes and now get to enjoy their grandchildren living nearby. Next life wishes: English Professor / play in a world-renowned symphony orchestra!

Dr. Schoettler is Board Certified in Allergy/Immunology and Pediatrics. As one of the founding partners of South Bay Allergy & Asthma, she most enjoys the 'detective' aspect of the specialty -- tracking down a cause for symptoms and avoiding it rather than relying solely on medications. She strives to be a trusted advisor to her patients, always looking for practical solutions. Teaching has always been her passion, initially as a faculty member at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, then mentoring physicians in training at Harbor-UCLA for many years; she is now dedicated to helping patients understand their treatment options as the medical field continues to evolve, and together devising a plan that will be in their best interest. She and her husband have raised two children in Southern California and after two decades as a 'soccer mom', she continues to enjoy sports photography, a menagerie of much-loved pets, kayaking, and reading great mystery novels.

Dr. Liang completed her medical doctorate at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. before moving back to Los Angeles to complete her allergy and immunology training. She is dual-board certified in Allergy/Immunology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Liang was drawn to this subspecialty early on in her career, fascinated by the wide spectrum of diseases caused by both over- and under-activation of the immune system. Caring for both adult and pediatric patients, she is honored to be able to help entire families. Her goal is to help her patients understand their medical conditions and work with them to create a treatment plan that addresses their unique priorities and healthcare needs. Outside of the office, Dr. Liang enjoys traveling, cooking with her husband, dabbling in design and photography, spending quality time with her family, and hiking with her dog, Oliver.

Dr. Lee, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, brings with her a wealth of experiences from a top-notch Allergy/Immunology training program at St. Louis University, and translates this into practical, customized care for each of her patients. With Board Certifcation in both Allergy/Immunology and Pediatrics, she remains in tune with the unique needs of children, but has found our specialty to be particularly rewarding as it allows her to expand her influence to patients of all ages with a variety of allergic and immunologic conditions. Dr. Lee believes in building strong relationships with patients and partnering with them to achieve their health goals using the most up to date treatment options. When she is not in the office, Dr. Lee loves trying out new recipes with her latest kitchen gadget, honing her photography skills, and traveling the world with her husband.

Dr. Nguyen, a native of Los Angeles, moved up and down the CA coast for training before coming back full circle to the South Bay. She attended Mira Costa for high school and is ecstatic to be able to work as an allergist in the beautiful community she grew up in. Dr. Nguyen loves hiking, playing tennis, trying new restaurants, walking the strand and green belt, decorating for holidays, and spending time with family and friends--especially her husband and their dog, Bear.
