We love coming to Komala Vilas. The food is great. Not too spicy so it’s perfect for us. We ordered a few items. Paneer dosa is great if you’re looking for a non-spicy option. It’s a low key restaurant with great food. We have been coming here for a while and I highly recommend it. Prices are reasonable too.

Very tasty comfort food. Yummy chutney and sambar. Vada was the favorite and felt like we were in Bangalore with most tables speaking kannada :) Quick service, reasonable price. It’s all just table and chairs so not the best if ambience is priority.

By far one of the best and most authentic Indian street food I've come across in the bay area. I tried all the items on the menu and each of them took me back to as if I was back in India again. The owner and everyone else are really nice, are experts in their craft and looking to introduce the rich and diverse Indian cuisine (break the cliche of indian food being only curry) at an affordable price. I would highly recommend it to people familiar with the dishes and for people who are looking to try something new and delicious! The only caveat is there is little to no seating place but the food can be consumed standing like traditional Mexican food trucks and they offer door dash and to go boxes (really good packaging).

We came to know about this place recently so thought of giving it a shot since Bay area doesn't have dozens of Pav bhaji only places. We ordered Pav bhaji, Vadapav, Schezwan Vadapav and Chai. I really loved the chai and pav bhaji. Vada pav was a bit spicy as per my liking but pretty good otherwise. Since it's a new food truck there wasn't many people so we got our order quick. Also they have two tables so you might get to sit and eat. The location is something which was little off but the food was pretty good!

Aappakadai was started with a small team of experienced chefs who are passionate about South Indian Chettinad Food. The recipes of Aappakadai come from the spice racks of the Grandmother. Traditionally fresh and hot home-made ‘Aappam’ were sold by Aappakadai as a breakfast dish in the streets of Chettinad.

‘Aappam’ is a specialty dish from the Chettinad, made of fermented rice flour. Traditionally Aappam is served with coconut milk. But Aappakadai serves Aappam with various Chettinad spicy dishes like Goat Paaya.

Aappam is most prevalent in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, and Kerala. Belonging to the Sangam period corresponding to between 100 BC and 100 AD. Aappam (or hoppers in English) first originated in South India. It is similar to a dosa (rice or lentil pancake). Originally, it was prepared from a batter newe of ground soaked rice and coconut milk. Aappam can be found throughout India sold at restaurants and street vendors known as hopper men. It is just something that seems to be a revolution in the food world.

This is one of the best places serving Vadapav in the Bay Area. The service is always so quick, and the Vadapav so delicious. The Vadapav comes with a spoonful of fried side crumbs, minced onion, and 2 fried green chili. The serving time is always less than 2 minutes and the vada is always hot and crunchy. The vada seems to be fried by order. I'll surely recommend this place and return here almost once every week.


One of the best (if not the best) places in the Bay area to try a Vada Pav.


I've been coming here for multiple years now and absolutely recommend their regular Vada Paav. I've also tried out the schezwan vada pav but I'd still recommend the regular one over it


Amazing vada pav! I really enjoyed the szechuan vada pav-- it came with a szechuan sauce, onions, fried green chilies, and fried crumbs. Our order came out very fast and was hot. Perfectly satisfied my Indian street food craving! Would definitely visit here again

Got vada pav and cutting tea and both were great and delicious! The vada pav was very authentic in taste and flavorful and the tea was well made - worth the $$. Will be our new go to spot for vada pavs!
