"SERVICE DEPARTMENT alone is worth going to and knowing about. I took in a Cuisinart food processor part that I had determined was not working (by swapping parts with someone whose was working.) The service guy played with the part, said, "This piece is not broken. Did you bring the rest of it?" He was reluctant to sell me something that he thought I didn't need. I took it home and tried it again and, lo and behold, it worked. Maybe by playing with it he sprung a part that was out of whack? I don't know. The Continental Tea and Crockery Company opened for business in downtown Santa Rosa in 1898 as a general store, selling housewares, bulk coffees, and an assortment of teas. Lee Hardisty purchased the store in 1924, calling it Hardisty's Quality Goods. The company expanded to offer giftware, electric shavers, small electric appliances, and aluminum cookware, a new invention at the time.

Nephews Clem and Elwin Hardisty later added tabletop lines in the early 1940s, including Fostoria glass and Lenox china. In 1990 Elwin's son, Loren (Gerry) Hardisty, moved the company to east Santa Rosa with his daughter Kim and her husband Steve. In 2001, the business location was then moved to the beautiful Farmers Lane Plaza, where we remain today. This move allowed for much-needed space for new small appliances, kitchen gadgets, cookware, gourmet coffees and a busy service department.
