Chinese Medicine is a system of holistic health care that has been in existence for more than 3,000 years. It encompasses acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet therapy, massage techniques, and qigong. It works by guiding the body back to its natural state of balance. Acupuncture promotes circulation of blood and energy through the body. Needles are thin and generally painless. Inserted into specially selected acupoints they can assist in pain relief or bring healing to internal or external health concerns. Stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, back pain, arthritis, headaches, allergies, insomnia, PMS, infertility, menopausal symptoms, IBS, and gastritis are just a few of the conditions it can treat.

Erin Prucha earned her Master’s of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a Nationally Certified Diplomat in Oriental Medicine, Chinese Herbs, and Acupuncture (NCCAOM), and holds a license with the California State Acupuncture board. She has received specialized training in Women’s health issues, her specialty, as well as chronic pain management, immuno-deficiency disorders, sleep disorders, Emotional concerns (such as stress, anxiety, depression, and bi-polar disorder), and facial rejuvenation. She is also very interested in what is know as the Inner Tradition of Chinese Medicine, which focuses largely on our ability to live our destiny, and how this can affect physical as well as emotional health.

Prior to her training in Chinese Medicine, Erin received her M.A. in Art Education and Creativity from San Francisco State University and her B.A. in Liberal Studies from the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University. After this, she developed and managed CreArte Retreat for the Arts in Costa Rica with two partners. The retreats were developed to offer educational vacations with the intent of facilitating creativity and artistic expression.

Erin grew up in nearby Sebastopol, and opened her Acupuncture practice in Santa Rosa, CA in October of 2008. Prior to this she worked as an acupuncturist for Royal Caribbean cruise lines. “It was a great experience, but I wanted to work with patients for longer term care, to really get the results that Chinese Medicine can offer.”

Over a number of years as a practitioner of Chinese medicine — including acupuncture, qigong, cupping, herbal formulas, nutrition, and more — I have grown in admiration and awe of the body’s elaborate healing mechanisms. We are designed to live and thrive and have wellbeing. While it is easier to maintain this optimal state than to recover it after injury and illness, healing is not only possible but highly probable.
