Enjoy an afternoon of traditional Chinese music played by a youthful generation. An orchestra comprising folk instruments such as the erhu (two-string violin), dizi (bamboo flute), guzheng (lap harp), yangqin (dulcimer), mouth organ (sheng), (guzheng), dulcimer (yangqin), pipa (lute). Program includes Chinese orchestra masterpieces Terra-Cotta Warriors Fantasia and Ambush from All Sides, dizi concerto Le Chun, yangqin concerto Reminiscence, and many others.

California Youth Chinese Symphony (CYCS) is a non-profit organization serving the Bay Area and nation wide. It has a mission of promoting musical diversity and enriching cultural lives of our communities by introducing Chinese traditional music and instruments. We provide high quality and diversified education on Chinese traditional instruments and creatively integrate East-West music using both Chinese and Western instruments.

The CYCS Orchestra is a Chinese symphony orchestra that primarily made up of Chinese traditional instruments and a few Western instruments such as Cello and Bass.

Develop motor skills through acquiring playing techniques of the Chinese traditional instruments.

An examiner appointed by the Central Conservatory of Music travel from China to the Silicon Valley to listen to performances by all the examination candidates one by one.

Presented by both the junior group and senior group members of CYCS, and joined by all the faculty artists of the group.


CMA performs high-quality, diversified traditional Chinese music and creatively integrates East-West music using both Chinese and Western instruments.


On May 31, 2020, CYCS has successfully hosted its first ever online concert. Due to shelter-in-place, teachers and students met online weekly to continue with small group lessons. With a little bit of this, a dash of that, and a sprinkling of something else, humans are customizing their own spiritual traditions. But when does it become less about spirituality and more about shopping?

People of all backgrounds flourish here. One thing they have in common? They want to make a difference. Santa Clara students are driven to build a better, kinder, more humane, more sustainable planet. And everything they need is right here. With our Silicon Valley location, dedicated community of scholars, and opportunities inside and outside the classroom, we teach you to think critically, take risks, and take charge.

4worldlovers: Music is a great vehicle to bring community together. That’s why we would love to invite your family to a new musical project that we are starting: Community Synergy Orchestra!

Music brings people together and creates community. It is also engages youth in ways that other methods cannot. In fact, because of the natural care that parents have for their children, when you bless a child you also bless their parents. We intend to integrate the aspirations of the entire family.

We know not all school provide musical instruction. We also acknowledge the existence of individual private music schools. However, these don’t necessarily enable the sense of community that can be created through music. We aim to fill this space, allowing music lovers in our community to play in a symphonic orchestra. As part of this, we will provide musical instruction, with the aim of playing together in a large ensemble.

Multicultural: We encourage the participation from all members of our community, of all ages, and celebrate diverse cultural backgrounds, recognizing that they are the fabric of our community. Our repertoire will include music representing each one of the communities that conform the orchestra.

Inclusive: We want all music lovers to participate in this project, regardless of their socio-economic situation.

Family focused: This is an inter-generational orchestra, and it will stimulate the participation of whole families, creating stronger family bonds, which are sorely needed in our current environment.

Different Orchestras: We will have a Begginers Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra and Intergenerational Orchestra to start

We plan to organize concerts in various community venues, like high schools, parks, and recreational centers, so this will be a lot of fun!

I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.

Let us reveal to our children the beauty of music, and music shall reveal to our children the beauty of life.

4worldlovers: Join guest conductor Dr. Troy Davis and the San Jose Wind Symphony as we salute our county’s 247th birthday with a good, old-fashioned concert in the park. Enjoy patriotic songs, show tunes, marches and more as we celebrate more than two decades headlining the annual Los Gatos Fourth of July festivities.


The concert is free, so come early and bring lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen and plenty of water. There’ll be rides and games for the kiddies, beer and wine for the adults, and delicious food for everyone.
