I received my undergraduate degree from UC San Diego where I graduated first in my class earning my B.S. in Biology. I continued my education in Northern California, graduating from UC Davis Medical School in 2002, as medical student of the year in ophthalmology and psychiatry. I then completed an Ophthalmology Residency at UC Davis where I completed more cataract surgeries than any other graduating resident in the United States.

After residency, I spent a year at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, which is one of the premier cornea transplant training facilities worldwide. Here I completed a Fellowship in Cornea Transplant, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery in perhaps the busiest fellowship in the country. I also spent time doing Cataract Surgery in Nepal, and following Fellowship, I spent six weeks in Africa working for the United Nations Millennium Village project providing eye-care services, and teaching local eye doctors surgical techniques. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2007.

I am still quite passionate about international ophthalmology and continue to work in Africa and Asia. I also continue to publish in peer reviewed books and journals. A few of my publications have included original work on partial thickness cornea transplants, mummy eyes, infectious disease, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery.
