When we put them in the school last fall, the only Spanish they knew was how to count to 10 and a handful of colors. Now they're correcting me when I try to speak to them. Besides the Spanish, the school is fantastic. The location is new and clean. The activities the kids do during week are fun and engaging. And the teachers really care about the kids. We're also very aligned when it comes to disciplinary philosophies and have to worked together with the school's owner (Claudia) to resolve any issues.

By providing an academically rigorous dual-language program, Voices students will develop the knowledge and skills to engage critically in their community and view their education as a vehicle for social mobility.

Ms. Deberry attended underserved schools growing up. When she graduated from college and returned home, she saw the gap in schools and how SpEd students were being treated. Ms. Deberry decided she wanted to make a change by focusing her attention towards SpEd. This eventually lead her to coaching through TFA. Ms. Deberry joined the Voices family in 2020 as Voices Mount Pleasant Interim Principal. Ms. Deberry completed her Masters of Teaching with a Single Subject Teaching credential at the University of Southern California, and her Masters of Special Education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
