McAllister Music Studio | Music Lessons for Children & Adults: what do users think?

Alexis Froistad: , and we have continued our friendship outside of lessons. Thank you for the great experience and kicking off my adult beginner journey in piano!

Pauline Luke: on so many fronts for me and my family since we started our piano programs with the school. The programming is done thoughtfully and led by talented teachers with many opportunities for adults and children to share their music through open mics and more formal recitals. I also had the opportunity to participate in the recording session with Ciara and the Tiny Telephone team in Oakland and that was really special. What came out of that was a beautiful video recording and experience that left me feeling empowered and inspired! I'm also grateful for the amazing community that comes with MMS, both staff and other students. I highly recommend McAllister Music Studio for anyone looking to learn, explore, or expand their experiences with music.

Zach Kysar: for the past year or so. I’ve made huge progress in my own personal songwriting goals. Ciara has kept me accountable and I’ve learned so much working with her. She has a incredibly strong musical background and brings a special positivity to every one of our lessons. She’s helped shape my hobby into a passion and has given me huge direction for the future. I’ve recommended MMS to so many of my close friends including my partner who also started taking Piano classes and reported a similar experience with a different instructor. MMS provides a warm and welcoming community for shared musical growth. I wholeheartedly recommend McAllister Music Studios.

Phil Bailey: Cannot say enough good things about Ciara & MMS. While born of the pandemic, the annual recording session is now a highlight of the year. Ciara’s expert coaching both before and during the session makes this an incredible opportunity to develop another aspect of performing music. Recording isn’t the same as playing live, both are cool, but different. The studio, Tiny Telephone and its engineer Beau are incredibly welcoming to everyone. People you have heard of record here, but the welcome is universal. If you have never done this, you really should.

Alicia: who has an amazing way of breaking down and de-mystifying information in a way that is both empowering and inviting.

Brady Shutt: Fantastic school and community environment for growing musicians, singers, songwriters, beat makers, etc. Many fantastic teachers that cover a wide range of expertise from classical and jazz piano to music production, lyric writing and song development. Many opportunities to perform to a supportive community, including a special winter recital and a professional recording session at Tiny Telephone. Highly recommend this place!

Celeste Villalobos Tahamont: .

molly fields: MMS has been such a positive music studio for my family. The teachers are all talented and knowledgeable about music playing and theory. My sons piano teacher is incredibly patient and kind, yet knows when to challenge him. After every lesson he comes home to practice on his own. If you want a positive music environment and a place that sparks joy and love of music all while learning, give MMS a try. You won’t be disappointed.

ana martinez: I can’t say enough great things about MMS. To begin with their teachers are highly skilled, patient while all levels and know how to keep students motivated. If you are looking for a school that goes above and beyond look no where else. Also all the opportunities to perform outside of the classes are amazing.

Andrew Michael Berrios: I have to start with I LOVE the McAllister Music Studio family. I cannot express in words how much this school has helped me develop my musicianship. I have been working with the owner Ciara and her incredible staff at MMS Mission for years now. As a professional working singer, songwriter, and musician in San Francisco, I am constantly in admiration of the knowledge, skill, passion, and professionalism each and every teacher possesses at this school. It's truly a haven for music in San Francisco. The MMS Mission location is in the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, surrounded by incredible restaurants, boutiques, and local music venues. It was built as a recording and performance studio, with integrated practice and teaching rooms for aspiring pianists, singers, and songwriters and anyone who has the desire to develop their passions in music. With a mix room, sound room, performance space, and stylish interior it is an inspirational environment for music making and has such a warm, eclectic vibe where I feel like I'm in my apartment playing piano!Ciara is an indescribable badass. She's a fierce singer, songwriter, pianist, business woman, and artist in her own element and you can feel how much love she pours into her school. Naomi is amazing. She handles all administrative and scheduling stuff and she's always so incredibly simple, easy, and professional to work with. I talk to her whenever I need to book a lesson or set up a show and it's literally instantly figured out. And as I mentioned earlier, every single person apart of the MMS is incredible and are actively apart of the local music and arts scene here in San Francisco, which I find invaluable because you are seriously learning from the best of the best.McAllister Music Studio Mission is a true haven for aspiring and established artists in San Francisco. It's so rare these days to be able find and be apart of such a thriving, spirited community of musicians in the Bay Area, and if you are looking to do that MMS Mission will offer this and more!

Sanjeev Kriplani: I feel very fortunate to have found this great teacher and school.

Marta O'Shea: We've been working with McAllister Music Studios for several years now - our teenager has been taking piano lessons with Natalie. We have had such a great experience with McAllister: Natalie is an excellent teacher and has great patience as well as energy. Our daughter has developed a great bond with her. Also, any administrative requests we have had have been addressed quickly. We highly recommend McAllister!

Allison D'Ambrosio: I'm 28 and I've been working with Patrick Hagen through MMS for over a year. I began with a little singing experience and essentially zero piano. Working with Patrick has been nothing short of incredible. He is patient, thoughtful, and creative with his teaching strategies. He pulls from a deep well of knowledge to communicate through auditory, visual, mental, and emotional queues. His sincerity and thorough understanding of the voice and piano have taught me technical skills and helped build my confidence to a place it's never been. A year ago I didn't know which keys were which, couldn't read music, and had zero musical theory. I now have a few pieces of actual music under my belt and have the skills to learn more in between the songs we work on together. I can't recommend MMS and Patrick enough, I look forward to working with him every week.

Sara Tansey: as an adult because I wanted to be able to sing with people but felt embarrassed. Lizzie helped me build the technical and emotional skills to reach my goals.

Sophie Cooper: I've been taking adult piano lessons at MMS since mid-2019 and absolutely love it. I've loved having a creative outlet and learning a new skill. The teachers are professional and friendly and do a great job of helping you grow while also taking your musical interests into account. The sense of community and group open mic/performance nights were a huge draw for me as well, and I was so glad that they found a way to move lessons and music nights online during quarantine so we could all continue to learn and stay connected. I'd highly recommend MMS!

Amy Matarazzo: , and how much the lessons are tailored uniquely for my needs. My teacher is able to correct my form and technique even through the computer and is always adjusting what songs and exercises I work on to keep the learning challenging, fun, and rewarding. The school also offers casual and friendly open mic nights

Leisl Zabelin: When the pandemic hit and I was stuck at home, it quickly became apparent that I was yearning for a creative outlet. Finding my singing voice again was just what I needed. After my first lesson, Patrick knew exactly which vocal exercises would be beneficial to help me reach my singing goals. As we moved forward my vocal range expanded just as I hoped it would. Not even a full year later I now have a repertoire of songs to use for auditions and the confidence to set even loftier goals. And all of this happened over zoom!My 10 year old also takes voice lessons with Patrick and looks forward to his lesson every week. He has enjoyed learning how to use his breath to support his singing voice and he likes that he can pick fun songs to work on. Thank you Patrick and McAllister Studio for all your support in our musical journeys.

Jessica Seybert: We started lessons mid-pandemic while looking for a way to keep our daughter more engaged in an activity throughout the day. She's only 5, but already I can see her confidence growing and she's having a blast learning all her new skills and playing for friends and family! I love the balance her teacher, Natalie, has when it comes to discipline of practice and learning the actual needed skills to play while also incorporating the fun and creative side of exploring music. I can see us sticking around for some time!

Brian Johnson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI’ve been taking lessons with Andrew at McAllister for a few months now. I’m learning a lot from Andrew. It’s exciting and fun. Andrew’s guidance is helping keep me motivated and making progress.

jake lu: .MMS has adapted super well online over ZOOM - I'm impressed that they can catch every mistake or wrong note over video call - I'm still excited to go back into the studio once things reopen though. Thanks Kate!! If you were my piano teacher when I was 5, I probably would have stuck through with it all the way until now :

Amabile School of Music: what do users think?

Chloé Hebert: I'm very happy enrolling my kids at Amabile School of Music. The teachers are all professional musicians, and I can tell they are passionate about their teaching. Both of my kids are now improving a lot and they started really enjoying playing the piano. The staff has always been helpful to us. It's a good learning environment and I appreciate the school. Thank you!

Bay Aqua: I was looking for good piano studio in SF to prepare my kids for ABRSM tests. After searching for a while, we found Amobile. Both of my boys are now on track for both theory and practice tests. And Teresa, the director, is so good at motivating and bring the best out of the kids which she calls by "young artists." She is a true artist herself and is a hard to find music teacher and music learning advocate!

Vivien Kong: I strongly recommend Amabile School of Music for anyone who is interested in learning a music instrument. Amabile has great faculty who have been professionally trained. They are dedicated into teaching and truly care about the students. Great management as well.

kotting luo: it is a reputable music school with lots of experienced teachers. the school offers students awards and recital opportunities. staff is friendly and helpful. highly recommend!

Ethan Lin: One of the best music schools in Bay Area.

Tina DeFabio: I love my teacher so much I bet all the teachers are so nice 👍 I love amabile

Tracy Morris: All I can say is, "Wow!" Awesome facilities with very knowledgeable faculty and super helpful staff. This music school is great for students of all ages and interests. You won't be disappointed.

Virgil Lupu: The teachers are great at interacting with their students and helping them learn and are great at inspiring their students.

Vibo Music School: what do users think?

Honey Badger: Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Marlena Schreckengost: The teachers are amazing! My kids are learning so fast!

NMT: I used to attend this music school as kid for singing, piano, and guitar lessons around 2010-2015 before I moved outside the bay. I progressed quickly in learning musical theory and my own skils with each instrument I took classes in. So many wonderful and fun memories remain with me from the friends I made in group classes, the kind teachers and staff, and the recitals that would allow us students to showcase our talents. If I could recommend an amazing music school, it would most definitely be Vibo.

Helen Fong: where the students can play in a group and perform in the public. My daughter can play the piano well but she lacks the confidence. Having her play in the music bands

Manshiu Leung: My children have been taking music lessons at Vibo music school for over 2 years, in the areas of Guitar, Piano and Vocal. During this period of time, there has been tremendous progress made on my children’s music skill and competency level; the learning experience so far has been very successful. Part of this success is due to the fact that our children have a genuine interest toward learning music, but also the fact that the teaching staff at Vibo is very knowledgeable, helpful and flexible in designing the weekly lessons in ways to facilitate learning and to make the lessons filled with fun. One other important factor is around the recital opportunities offered by Vibo throughout the school year in creating performance venues for students to showcase their skills in front of audiences. This has been a great idea in reinforcing what has been learned but also in assisting with overcoming some of the “fear” of performing in public.I think Vibo has done a great job in all of these areas for its students in fostering a fun and exciting learning environment. As a parent, I continue to support my children in pursuing their music passion alongside with Vibo.Manshiu Leung

ECHS Music Boosters: Vibo Music has been a part of my son’s life for almost a decade. He started with vocal lessons, and then went on to piano, violin and viola lessons. He joined up with a ensemble and later a string orchestra at Vibo as well. My son also enjoyed the summer music camps at Vibo Music, where he made new friends and learned how to play new instruments. The Vibo teachers were instrumental through the years by helping him realize his musical potential.

alan W: I love Vibo Music School because both my kids have great times there. Vibo provides all kinds of instruments lessons in group & private, like drums, woodwinds, piano, guitar, violin... you name it. Then Vibo puts kids together to form bands and gives them opportunities to perform in the community. That’s what makes Vibo so special. My son plays guitar in the rock band and my daughter is a violinist with the chamber orchestra. Not only they can learn instruments from professional teachers but also can perform in front of different audience many times in a year. I recommend Vibo to all who love to learn or play music. Come join the Vibo family!

Javier Trujillo: Vibo Music School its a great music garden where you can learn so many different styles of music, besides a strong theory root and discipline that any instrument requires. Its a Music gem in the bay area.

Lauren Gao: Love this music school. The teachers are awesome, especially Teacher Tim. Students are engaged and the school has a great family feel.

Brent Villalobos: Good selection of instruments and gear

Teresa Alabata: Took advantage of their new student discount special for private lessons for a month and have really enjoyed it! I am learning guitar and feel like I've learned so much, more than I expected in a month. My instructor is Tyler and his patience, encouragement and clear communication make it very easy and fun to learn! Definitely signing up for more lessons next year!

Antoinette Hueth: Great place for lessons

Crystal Nevaeh: I Took guitar lessons. My Instructors name was either Tyler or Kevin... I'm not great with names. But this was the best money I spent in a long time. I will say if your an adult look in to private lessons because It is geard towards children and teens. But in just 2 short months I was able to play at my first Open Mic Night! Abd when my schedule becomes more consistent I will be back for the intermediate classes!! Thanks Vibo!

DO MNT: My daughter used to take piano lessons here and she really learned a lot of stuff. If you willing to learn a Instrument and live in San bruno you should really take lessons here .

Chuck Farrugia: Wonderful music camp and experience

Blue Bear School of Music: what do users think?

Ralph Barhydt: My first guitar class at Blue Bear was a lot of fun for me. I had a great teacher, Kent Brown, and everyone in the class was better than me. I definitely will continues with Blue Bear.

wyatt: Good

Renee Richardson: Full disclosure, I work here, but recently I signed up for a songwriting workshop so I feel I can honestly offer feedback as a client.Having little to no musical experience I was not sure what my role in class was going to be; I love writing & singing little ditties when I am driving, or shopping, or cleaning, or skiing... pretty much wherever - you get the idea. Well, the songwriting workshop has been perfect. I was welcomed in and invited to collaborate with some VERY talented people. They took my punk rock song about people who don't use their blinkers and turned it into something quite fun and before you knew it, they had me play bass on some songs. I AM LOVING IT!!!If you are still reading this, and thinking of taking a class - just do it. If you are curious about a workshop and want to play with others, come check out our show at the Boom Boom room on Wed. Sept 18th! ALL ORIGINALS, including "Turn Indicator."

Jacqui Bos: Love Blue Bear!

Shawn Cook: Convenient, friendly and knowledgeable instructor, Dan, in FiDi !

C.J. Newton: Good Experience, Great Value!

Marisa Nordstrom: I love Blue Bear! I had such an amazing time at my first band workshop! Our director Jim is so helpful and he really created a space where we could all come together and make fun music! We had a blast! It's been a dream of mine to sing with a band and I am so grateful to Blue Bear! If you've ever wondered what it would be like to sing or play music please give yourself the gift of a Blue Bear class!

C: I strongly recommend Blue Bear band workshops to anyone interested in having a true band experience and improving their musical abilities. We received professional level guidance in rehearsing songs and preparing for a live show at a local club. The instructors I have had are all knowledgeable, supportive and offer their musical expertise in guiding us through our set list. I know I have benefited greatly from my experience with the Blue Bear band workshops.

Richard Lang: There are many dreams we have; from being a winning pitcher in game 7 of the World Series, to rocking out in a band. Blue Bear has no expertise in the area of sports - but having appeared onstage 3 times in bands at Bay Area clubs after 40+ years away from music was truly a dream come true. And it wasn't a "feel bad for the old guy" move - each band learned their tunes, practiced and prepared and then as a team each band had a ball onstage. If you've ever toyed with the idea of taking what ever musical skills you have on stage - drop your inhibitions and get on board with Blue Bear. My only regret - I've move away from SF and may never get another class there! But I haven't stopped playing!

David Kaiser: Blue Bear is amazing. Great, laid-back atmosphere and superlative teachers. You can't go wrong with Blue Bear!

Brian Karlak: Try the Band Workshop -- it's delicious!
