Ajak was STOLEN on February 23rd at 5:30PM from her kennel inside the Petco adoption center. If you have any information about her please let us know. If you have taken her or know who has taken her, we are offering a $1000 reward no questions asked for her safe return. We simply want her back in our care.

Our adoption center will be closed except during monthly meet-and-greet events.

We are still doing VIRTUAL ADOPTIONS. What’s that you wonder? We do a video meet and greet with a kitty you’re interested in adopting.

1. Fill out an application - please tell us as much as you can about yourself, your cat experience, the type of cat you're looking for, more information is better

2. If the cat is still available we will contact you for an interview to make sure it’s a good fit

3. We will schedule a video meeting with the foster and the kitty for approved applications once an interview is complete

We are grateful for your support and the many applications we are receiving for our kitties these days. Please keep in mind we are a volunteer-run rescue and have consistently received a high volume of applications since the beginning of COVID-19. It can take us up to a week to reply to your application. At times, the cat you've applied for already may have an adoption in progress. We do remove cats from the website as soon as the adoption is finalized. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

4worldlovers: For the first time in 40 years our kennels are getting a makeover.

We’re knocking out the ancient chain link and installing modern, state-of-the-art, sound-reducing and bacteria-impervious enclosures for a safer, more pleasant experience for our dogs, their caretakers and the public.

What does this mean for our residents? By March 1 they have to find another place to stay!

We’re working on obtaining alternative housing just in case. But we would much rather our residents find their forever homes with you. Adopt any pup for $25.

Are you an energetic veterinary professional who would like to make a big difference in an animal shelter's operations?

Full-time RVT. We need a registered veterinary technician to provide animal care at our main shelter, satellite adoption center, and weekly spay/neuter clinics.

Externship with stipend. We're offering unique, service-focused externships to current or recently graduated veterinary medicine students.

Can't adopt right now? Please consider fostering a shelter pet. Foster homes help pets reach their forever families.

The FAAS Pet Food Pantry is open to Alameda residents twice a month. Families in need may pick up one month's free supply of cat and dog food. Please park and open your trunk. Supplies are limited to up to three dogs and three cats per family. Visits per family are limited to once a month.
