Live every Tuesday exclusively at Local Edition! The Local Edition Jazz Orchestra is a diverse group of long-time friends that have played alongside one another for years. The ensemble ranges from having as little as 8 to as many as 18 participants performing with occasional guest singers such as Billy Valentine, Bud E. Luv (aka Bobby Vickers), and Tom Scott.

The band shares an extreme passion for the music of 60’s and 70’s soul, funk and jazz… the classic sounds of Motown, Stax, Daptones and Blue Note Records but with a fresh and original spin. The Odiaga Project features the arrangements of Peruvian-born saxophonist Sebastian Pinillos based on music from his native Peru. Some of the performances also feature songs from Latin America as an ode to his friends and family. The ensemble is composed of Javier Trujillo on guitar and Jackeline Rago on percussion. These songs have been traditionally sung and featured little to no improvisation. Still, with Sebastian's arrangements, these songs feature an instrumental melody and plenty of improvisation creating a nice blend of Latin American Folklore and Jazz!

Well, that may be a little strong, but it's the oldest bar in San Francisco and boasts the best of the blues in the Bay Area, not only in terms of the incredibly good music with almost unbelievably small crowds of a mid-week evening, but because of the impressive array of CDs recorded on the premises and released by proprietor Myron Mu. The days of catching Tommy Castro at The Saloon are probably past, but Johnny Nitro & the Doorslammers rock the place almost every Friday and Sunday night while Ron Hacker, Steve Freund, Cathy Lemons, Daniel Castro, Dave Workman and numerous others are on the regular roster too. And, every Monday night ("for the rest of our lives"), The Bachelors.

During the 1800s, so the legends go, drunks who stumbled out of this tavern risked being shanghaied for nasty and ill-paid ocean voyages. The building survived the '06 earthquake, it's said, because of its unusually stout timbers. It survived the subsequent fires, it's said, because the fire brigades made sure protect the hookers who worked upstairs. Today the doorman-bouncer-soundman Greg scares hell out of would-be troublemakers but is actually one of the sweetest characters you'll ever meet. And oh yes, for between sets, this place has about the best jukebox anywhere.

4worldlovers: The Clift’s famous and historic Redwood Room has been restored and reinvented as an exceptionally modern San Francisco bar. Suffused with glamour and Art Deco style, the interior features the original redwood paneling which, legend has, was carved from a single redwood tree, as well as an enormous bar made from an 800-year-old redwood tree. The original artwork on the walls by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt was restored and re-hung.

The intimate art deco-inspired Redwood Room is a San Francisco institution only made better by the people of San Francisco.
