4worldlovers: The Carmel Valley Skate Park opened 2008. The park is a 13,500-square-foot facility with a challenge course and cast in place concrete bowl. It also includes urban elements such as railings, stairs, banks and ledges. The park is equipped with night lighting allowing for it to stay open after the sun goes down. There are restrooms, a shade structure and sitting/observation areas as well.

The project design started in January 2007 with input from the Carmel Valley community members, including several skate board professionals. Construction started in March 2008 with the grand opening on Nov. 22, 2008. It was funded via the Carmel Valley Facilities Benefit Assessment.

From Interstate 5 south exit on Del Mar Heights Road. Turn left and travel east to El Camino Real where there is a traffic light. Turn right on El Camino Real. At the intersection of Elija Court, turn right into the parking lot.
