McKenna Granger: Last night, my family and friends celebrated my birthday and my friends’ upcoming wedding. Chris was our waiter and he made our entire experience phenomenal. He is hands down the best waiter I’ve ever had. He was massively helpful, patient, and did everything possible to make our experience special. The food was also lovely and the drinks were fabulous. We are originally from Colorado and just visiting, but now anytime I am in California I will make it a point to come to La Jolla and see Chris. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

Noura Alkhalifa: The restaurant is amazing in terms of location and food.. Their service is 10/10, honesty, we succeeded in it. We were served by a man named Eric, who was very nice and helpful.The thing I loved most was the mac and cheese 👌🏼And the dessert is delicious and they gave it to us for free after that💕

Crystal Fitpold: I don't even have words for the amazing experience! The food and drinks were fantastic. The Mac and cheese was especially yummy. Nothing could compare to the location though! The view was magical. We got to watch the sea lions on the cove from our table - it was a highlight of my trip to the area. I would've paid extra for that view! Service was very nice, but not very fast. That was fine by me as it gave more time to enjoy the view!

H G: Been here a few different times in the last 3 years, its always a good experience and great food. Two occasions have been for a birthday, each time they've decorated the table and had a birthday card ready with complimentary champagne to start and dessert at the end of the meal. On one occasion I requested a table by the window, but it was dark and couldn't really see much. Other occasions we've taken a booth, which is way more comfortable than the chairs near the window. Ordered the kung pao calamari as an appetizer, a lot bigger than expected and delicious. The crab fried rice was not very good, didn't seem cooked all the way, but the truffled macaroni and cheese was the best mac n cheese I've ever tasted. My go to is the Ribeye, perfectly char on the outside and pink and flavorful on the inside. I typically get a Smoked Old Fashion. The very first time visiting this location the server put on a show burning a plank at the table and smoking the glass. Instances after that have not been the same, but the drink is still smoky and delicious. My date got a mule that came in a small glass with lots of ice, hardly any mule, it was sad. I've had some good wines recommended by staff as well. The servers are courteous, knowledgeable, and they aim to please. Parking is not a problem, but not always close either. They have a valet service for a few $ more than the cost of public parking and worth it if you dont want to walk a few blocks. Its fine dining, but the dress code seems relaxed and people bring kids as well. On one occasion a drunk couple were seated next to us, they were loud and obnoxious. We ignored them, but it was surprising that they were seated in the first place.

Jackie M.: I went on 04/15/2024 at around 5:30pm and there were only a few people inside so there was no wait time to be seated even though I had a reservation. The service was great, smooth, and efficient. I felt that the servers were very attentive more than normal at other regular restaurants and very friendly. The food was incredible! Definitely worth the price. We got 2 main filet mignons, 1 with Diablo shrimp that came with sauce around the steak. The other one was with a lobster tail that came with a butter warmer and a lemon. For future reference, it's best to order the steaks as medium rare then medium because it is much more flavorful and tender with medium rare filet mignons. I am not big on seafood but gave it a shot, the shrimp didn't taste fishy but was super moist, very soft, and highly flavorful. The sauce that comes with it was sooooo good. I ordered the potatoes and they were crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside in the middle layer. The potatoe are worth every single bite. I also ordered for dessert the chocolate lava cake. Everything was tasty and presentable except for the dessert. I believe it needs to be plated better with more thought because it looks smeared onto the plate with the chocolate than placed there with thought, the cracker in between the icecream balls with the chocolate smear behind it didn't look appetizing at all and tasted ok, not worth the price but definitely the entrees and potatoes were worth every last bite.

The steak came out perfectly done as we asked and the desserts and cocktails were great as well. Shout out to our server, Mike, who made it a nice experience for us. I just wish the only location wasn't in downtown. Circled 4 times for parking only to pay $25 to valet.

Convenient to the convention centre and the stadium in the gaslight district. Recommended to get your giant cut of cow fix when the need arises. Tuesday night is tomahawk night which is surprisingly affordable.

Christopher Gorrie: A nice steakhouse in downtown San Diego. We came here for my brother’s birthday. The service is really amazing and the atmosphere is pretty nice, too. The server was outgoing, knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist.The food was pretty good. The cooks were slightly off on all the steaks ordered, though. Not a huge deal, but I expected exactness from a high-end steakhouse. The sides were all super tasty—loved the Fleming’s potatoes, burrata salad, and spinach. The espresso martini was pretty good too.The main courses were good, but not incredible or necessarily giving off anything that would elevate them beyond a general steakhouse’s mains. For something pricey, I usually hope it will be great enough to remain memorable for quite some time.In any case, great sides, pretty good steaks, nice chicken, and good cocktails. Very memorable service.

Ritchie Taylor: I used to frequent Salvatore's in 1995/96. Loved the place back then; the new vibe is different, but I can attest that the music was not too loud tonight. Emily A's service was spot-on....came by enough to make sure we were alright, but not too much. Brussell sprouts were really good, as well as the linguine alpesto and the prosciutto pizza. Tried the fried olives, not our cup of tea, but they were not bad, just different. I really wanted the signature lasagna dish, but it was not available. Chose beef bolognese, and it was average. I will agree with others and their comments about not a large selection, but most of the dishes were good, including the mash potatoes.It was a great family night celebration dinner with both our daughters and their accomplishments with college.We will most likely not return again, but I am glad we had dinner there tonight. Thanks Salvatore's for the memories....of '95/'96.

Greg Martin: Salvatore’s is a modern lounge and bar with seating for meals. The fried olives over ricotta is among the most unique and tasty dishes I have found, while the pizza is a thin crust that was soggy with high quality mozzarella but tasteless tomato sauce. The cocktails are typical. The environment is at least moderately noisy as a club more than a restaurant.

The food was amazing--we had charcuterie for the appetizer, the starter salad, lamb, the fish, casarreche, and pistachio cake, the service at the Cove was perfect, and even the weather cooperated so we could enjoy the view from the balcony once the event was over. Michael Nazarinia: Thank you to Garibaldi Management and staff for such a great time on April 13, 2024.Our host the beautiful and charming Avery was really helpful, attentive and nice, not pretentious, condescending or aloof like many hostesses are.David was our server and he was so kind, so nice, so on the ball with everything it made our special occasion wonderful.The manager who came by watched our table of 14 his name was MJ and he helped whenever our party needed something when David wasn’t there.We had a bit of a high maintenance table and the two of them and the bussers were excellent.The food was yummy but the kitchen needs to lay off the heavy handed chili flakes.You can always add more chili flakes yourself if you ask for it on the side, but you can’t take it off the food when it’s mixed in so heavily.It overpowers the food when you have that much chili flakes, especially in both the pasta dish and the tuna tartare.The rolls, grandma pie and vegetarian pizza were delicious, with thick but fluffy crust in small bite size pieces.The salads were wonderful fresh and colorful. The charcuterie board was excellent with the chorizo pate.The view is really lovely and they accommodated us to an interior window table when the weather would not allow us to sit in the sofa, balcony seating area.Everyone had a really good time from 4 PM till 6 PM and would definitely come back here in July for another special event. I found out they had already moved us inside to the indoor 'balcony'.While I was on the phone, Susan asked me if I'd like to have the menu customized. Thinking it was something small - I said of course.When we arrived to the restaurant, we were greeted with an anniversary card and our menus were titled with our names, wishing us a happy anniversary. It was lovely!While waiting for our food, my wife was getting a bit cold from a draft. Susan quickly made an adjustment to stop the draft, but then also brought my wife a blanket just in case.Lastly, the actual food was incredible. Our server Sam made great recommendations and was incredibly friendly. Our dinner included the crab cake, surf and turf special, and the halibut - all incredible.For dessert, we were stuck selecting an option, but were suddenly surprised with a gift of the smores cake from the team at Top of the Market, for our special event.Truly a great experience - I'll be looking for any excuse to return.
