4worldlovers: This was our second tour with Kris, and as with the Gaslamp tour, this was an excellent way to learn more about this place before exploring more on our own. The history, buildings and cultural institutions that make up Balboa Park are a lot to take in, and we would not have gained as much of an appreciation for it all without the tour. I recommend doing the tour and then plan to spend the rest of the day at the museums or restaurant, climbing the tower or just enjoying the street performers. There’s something for everyone in this enormous park. Kris is great about coordinating the tour around your interests and being flexible with the timing of it all, and he was good natured about answering our many questions.

Our tour was informative, interesting and well-paced and it provided a great introduction to the neighborhood’s history and architecture before we explored it more on our own. I highly recommend this as an orientation to the area or as a deeper dive into the neighborhood’s interesting backstory. Our guide was delightful, and we had such a good experience we booked another tour with him (Balboa Park Hidden Gems).

Chris was our guide. He was friendly and courteous. Absolutely beautiful walk through La Jolla. He was knowledgeable and took us to places we may have walked by. He also recommended a great restaurant for lunch. Definitely a great day with our 3 high school and college aged girls.

Where we thought this tour would just be about the museums, we were pleasantly surprised that it was so much more. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the park, as well as tips for visiting several of the museums that we never would have known. The photos and stories were fascinating, and it was a very worthwhile 90 minutes. We highly recommend it.
