Please remember to put your pets in your will/living trust. None of us know when our time will come. What if the unexpected happens and your pet is left alone and no one you know wants the responsibility of your pet? What will happen is that your beloved one will be taken to the pound.

GPASC Rescue is a private rescue and foster care organization, created for the safe haven and permanent placement of homeless Great Pyrenees.

Each of the dogs who come to GPASC Rescue is cared for in a home-like environment, with abundant love, attention and special care. These dogs have been through a lot...and it is our objective to make them feel secure, safe and protected...so that when they are placed in their forever homes, they will stay there!

We are NOT a shelter. We pick up from animal shelters in Los Angeles City/County, Kern County, San Bernardino City/County, Riverside City/County, Orange City/County, San Diego City/County, and from various shelters in Nevada., and we accept Great Pyrenees owner turn-ins who are need of re-homing for whatever reason.

We advocate the spaying and neutering of all animals -- no rescue will be adopted from this organization before he or she has been altered. We also treat these Pyrs as if they were our own, providing them with care, attention, a loving environment and rehabilitation, when necessary, to prepare them for their forever homes.

We are a not-for-profit organization. The adoption fee for each rescue goes towards subsidizing the expenses involved in preparing the dogs for adoption. This includes altering, grooming, de-worming, flea treatment, medical attention, prescriptions, and vaccinations.

Our goal is to find adopters who will provide the perfect "forever" home for these little furbabies -- wonderful animals who deserve a second chance at a great life.

We are an AKC licensed breed club and an affiliate of the Great Pyrenees Club of America (GPCA). We are a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible. Our EIN # is 95-4487135

Pyrs are wanderers, a sturdy 6' fence is required so that they cannot dig under or go over.

Pyrs are not an off leash breed, they must be on a leash when out of their secure yard.

Pyrs are territorial, they do not always get along with same gender dogs.

Pyrs are nocturnal and guard by barking, they must be brought inside at night so as to not irritate neighbors.

Pyrs should be obedience trained to fully enjoy them. They are very intelligent and easily bored. No training sessions over 15 minutes of active commands.
