Beagles have been a part of my life since grammar school. While growing up and through my high school years, I acquired 2 show beagles and showed them in conformation, junior showmanship and obedience . After college, I helped several breeders in the San Francisco Bay area with their show beagles. I acquired another show beagle, but she was never shown.

After I was disabled in 1994, I decided to get a young puppy. Her name was Lightning Spot Sunshine Girl. When Sunshine was almost 2 years old, I started going to shows again in Southern California. CH Greenwood's Grady Tate caught my eye. Sunshine was bred to him, producing CH Sunshine Jackie O' Grady. When Jackie was 5 months old, I attended my first field trial and was impressed with the natural abilities of the beagle to track rabbits. California Sunshine Beagles was started to raise conformation show beagles and brace field beagles.

Since that time, we have raised five generations of conformation show beagles and two generations of brace field beagles. The goal of all of our breedings is to produce sound, healthy, happy, confident puppies of consistent type. We encourage participation in competitive events and other beagle activities.

We are a small hobby breeder of only this breed. We are located on over an acre of land in Southern California. Our goal is to breed for conformation, health, and temperment. For Conformation, we attend at least 2 shows a year and make sure our dogs are champions before they are bred. All Clearances and needed x-rays are done to produce the healthiest puppy possible. Our dogs also display affectionate and intelligent behavior as all Golden Retrievers should.
