Jardín de la Salud (Garden of Health) is a community garden that provides families access to fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. The garden is located in San Bernardino, a food desert where access to affordable, nutritious food is limited due to poverty, lack of grocery stores, and lack of transportation. Community members help tend to the garden, plant and harvest produce, and learn how to live healthier through volunteer-led health education classes and workshops.

“This garden and green space allows community members to learn more about their connection to the earth and feel empowered to address the health of their family and themselves — they are the ones that continue to make it fruitful every day.”

The garden’s market is held on the first Tuesday and third Sunday every month. Community members can find a wide variety of low-cost, nutritious produce.

Volunteers are needed to help in different areas of the garden including manual labor (mulching, irrigation, cleanup) and helping lead educational classes and workshops for local families.

Volunteer hours vary by activity and events planned for each week. Current volunteer hours are Monday evenings, Friday evenings, and Sunday evenings for individual volunteers. Sign up on our volunteer portal.
