The multi-use trail will be closed from Sunrise boat launch to the Jim Jones Bridge from July 31 - August 11. Please use S. Bridge Street as a detour. See Detour Map.


The lower multi-use trail will be closed from Campus Commons Golf Course to the "H" Street Bridge. The upper levee trail will be open in this area. The Campus Commons Golf Course parking lot will be closed for construction site trailers. The multi-use trail is closed for a Caltrans project from just west of State Route 51 American River Bridge to the Union Pacific Rail crossing. A detour is in place​. This portion of the trail should re-open in Fall of 2023.


The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD) has begun the rehabilitation of their pump station located off the Sailor Bar Park Olive Avenue access point. Park access and trails will remain open but please exercise caution as construction equipment will be present. Construction is expected to finish by Spring 2023. The water level at Folsom Lake dictates the type of recreation and length of the season. During years with normal precipitation the main recreational season is May through Labor Day in September. During the remaining months of the year use of Folsom Lake drops considerably. The desired reservoir elevation for recreation is approximately 435' to 455'. Above 455' less beach is available for swimmers and sunbathers, and below 435' feet the waterline is too great a distance from parking areas. Another problem with lower lake levels is that, at 426', boat ramps around the lake go out of service, and the only marina at the lake cannot moor most boats when the lake level is below an elevation of 412 feet.

Granite Bay is an ideal location to bring your family to enjoy Folsom Lake. The sandy beach, buoyed swim area and lifeguard services during the summer season make this area a safe location for swimming and playing in the water. Barbecue pits, shade areas and large grassy areas can accommodate many family picnics and otheractivities.

The Granite Bay snack bar also rents beach equipment. The beach equipment includes kayaks, paddle boards, volleyball sets, shade canopies and rafts of all sizes. Beal's Point is one of two locations on the lake that allows overnight camping in the campground.
