'Son con Son' unites son jarocho with son cubano. It is a project by Mexican American roots group Los Cenzontles, Grupo Mono Blanco of Veracruz, Mexico, and Kiki Valera, master of the cuatro cubano of Santiago de Cuba. Steeped in generations of their family traditions, these venerable folk artists lend their vast musical knowledge to a project that explores their deep cultural connections with soulful, and danceable, groove. The Woollystar Festival is a three-day musical celebration in a beautiful natural setting in Markleeville, CA. Up to 300 people each day enjoy an eclectic mix of music and film. As first, second, and third generation immigrants and working-class people, with multi-racial and multi-ethnic backgrounds, we share our stories through film and video productions.
