Mapes Beach serves as home to the UCLA beach volleyball team. The facility underwent a renovation prior to the 2020 season and now features three regulation sized beach volleyball courts and one warm-up court. The expanded site affords the Beach Volleyball team ample space to train and compete, and offers a picturesque setting for student-athletes and spectators alike.

The facility is named after former UCLA tennis student-athlete John Mapes (BA 1990) and his wife Carrie (BA 1990, Med 1991), who made a generous donation totaling $1,000,000.

As part of the renovation, the courts have been realigned for a more efficient and aesthetic look with three of the courts being used for competition with the fourth serving as a warm-up court. State-of-the-art netting has been installed on two sides with concrete platforms and metal railings used on the other two sides. Beneficiaries of Mapes Beach, in addition to the UCLA beach volleyball team, include UCLA students participating in club, intramural and open recreation programs.

Teams and officials parking is located at Recreation Center Structure (RC Structure). Spectator parking is located at the Sunset Village (SV) Parking Structure or lot #11 located off Bellagio Dr. Parking can be purchased at an hourly rate or a flat rate of $15 per day.

Professional cameras and cameras with telephoto or detachable lenses longer than 3-1/2 inches are prohibited in UCLA Athletic venues. Only those credentialed by the UCLA Athletic Communications Office will have the right to use such equipment. Flash photography, video cameras, monopods and tripods are also prohibited. UCLA event management reserves the right to ask guests to put cameras or video equipment away. All photo/video requests must go through the Athletic Communication office in advance.

To provide a safer environment for the public, UCLA Athletics will be implementing a bag check policy at Drake Stadium beginning the 2017-18 season. Security staff members will now search all bags, purses and backpacks brought into the venue- at each public entryway.

Guests must comply with venue staff and messaging at all times, including in regards to venue operations and emergency procedures.

Guests appearing intoxicated, inebriated or showing other signs of impairment related to alcohol consumption or drug use may be denied access to the venue or subject to ejection. Intervention with an intoxicated or impaired guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner.

Guests should sit only in their ticketed seats and upon request must show their valid ticket or University ID to venue personnel. Guests are permitted to sit or stand, when appropriate during an event, only occupying the area in front of their ticketed seat. Standing in aisles and on seat surfaces is strictly prohibited.

Guests are prohibited from using foul or obscene gestures or language on signs or clothing, or using fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks or gestures. Guests who engage in such behavior will be subject to ejection from the venue without refund or reimbursement.

Guests who attempt to enter the competitive area or other restricted spaces, throw objects, or disrupt competition in any other manner will be ejected from the venue immediately.
