Buckhorn Ski and Snowboard Lodge is a private remote cabin located in the San Gabriel National Monument in the Angeles National Forest. The lodge is managed and maintained by a cooperative community of members and has been around since the 1940's! A perfect secluded getaway year round, yet only 40 miles north of Los Angeles.
The Buckhorn Lodge is truly off the grid. There is no main electricity, no cellphone signal and no flush toilets. However, it has a huge sleeping area, fresh water fed by a spring, a propane gas tank to power hot water and the stove, and a fireplace. Lighting comes from LED bulbs powered by batteries, which get recharged by solar power, and when we need more, there's a generator. It's not a 5-star resort but should more than meet the needs of most.
