Change in City of Ventura Building and Safety Inspections (effective January 1, 2023)

Effective January 1, 2023, City of Ventura Building & Safety inspections will no longer be providing inspections on the alternate Friday when City Hall is closed.

Inspections must be received the business day before the inspection is needed. Meaning, if you need a Monday inspection prior to the closed Friday you will need to call in the Thursday before, no later than 5:00 PM.

The County’s Building & Safety Division has prepared and is making available to the public, a complete set of standardized plans for one-, two- and three-bedroom units that can be utilized for the construction of Detached ADUs and Farmworker/Animal Caretaker Dwelling Units.

We also work with the Code Compliance Division to ensure that existing buildings and structures are maintained in a safe condition.

Building & Safety is responsible for enforcing various requirements associated with fire safety, structural safety, energy conservation, water conservation, sustainability, accessibility for disabled persons, and various other aspects that make the buildings in our community safe to use and occupy. The Ventura County Building Code contains references to the State Codes that are used in the State of California and lists those local construction standards used in Ventura County.
