4worldlovers: It all boils down to relationships. I started my aprenticeship in home building with a focus on finish carpentry during my summers in High School in the early 80s. By 1991 I had worked for several companies learning valuable skills from all of them. It was then that I persued my license as a General Contrator. Looking back over the last 30+ years in this business has taught me two valuable lessons; First - relationships are the most important part of business. No matter what you build and no matter what the cost if the relationship is great the job is a success. Second - When we are done learning we can go home. My first employer used to say that and after decades I realize what he meant. We can learn something from every job and every person we meet along the way. Great customers make a business great. During the past 2 years I have been blessed to be able to work with my son. The time I get to spend with him has been the most rewarding for me. Father and Son teams are rare in the trades.
