Summer is upon us, so we are excited to get out of the house and safely socialize at our favorite park or open space. Warm weather and heat makes outdoor activities enjoyable but it also means we need to take care to hydrate and stay cool.

Whether you are lounging in the West Oakland Senior Center Courtyard, dancing on the Downtown Oakland deck, hanging out in the North Oakland Garden, or barbequing on the East Oakland patio it is important to be mindful before the heat catches up to you.

Below is our brand new membership registration form. The updated membership form includes a new demographics section that will help us apply for grants to benefit the Center's programs and services. Keeping in line with our standard center rules, we want to assure you that your personal information will remain confidential.

Call WOSC at (510) 238-7016 to set up an membership registration appointment for the new MySeniorCenter (MSC) system and receive your new key tag. Appointments can be made between Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 2:30pm. Payment options include: check, money order or cash. Please make checks and money orders payable to the City of Oakland.

4worldlovers: We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Senior Center! We will be open Monday to Friday 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm/Please note hours can be modified.

The Fruitvale-San Antonio Senior Center addresses the cultural and linguistic needs of the community’s increasingly diverse elderly population by providing services in Cambodian, Spanish, and English. Over 45 seniors visit the Center every day, and each year we serve a total of 1,000 seniors age 50 and up, many of whom are monolingual and at risk of cultural and social isolation. Our staff is dedicated to promoting healthy and on-going social, educational and physical development for seniors on a daily basis by a rich array of activities.

Centrally located in an ADA accessible space at the Fruitvale Village, right outside of the Fruitvale BART station and an AC Transit hub, the Senior Center is equipped with a full-service kitchen, community rooms, small computer lab, game room, on-site social service staff. We offer free transportation from a client’s Oakland home to the Center, and back again.

The Senior Center staff members are culturally and linguistically matched to the clients and can assist with referrals to other community services. For more information about senior services and activities, please contact us.

Seniors can get a nutritious hot lunch every day at the center, provided by Spectrum Community Services, for a suggested donation of $3.75 for seniors and $10.00 for non-seniors. We recommend making your reservation a day in advance by calling (510) 535-6123.

Our staff members are bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English; bilingual volunteers speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English. This program is funded by the Alameda County Area Agency on Aging and the City of Oakland.


Hong Lok’s programs are designed to help our participants achieve and maintain their independence. Hong Lok provides daily nutritionally-balanced, hot Chinese lunches, educational and recreational programs, exercise classes, personal safety and crime prevention workshops, classes on accessing health-related topics on the internet, health education on topics pertinent to seniors, information and referral to local services, holiday celebrations, field trips, etc..


Participants must be able to care for themselves independently while maneuvering through the Centers and participating in Center activities. Hong Lok staff will determine if participants are required to be accompanied by a care attendant while at the Centers.

There is no admission charge. Donations and gifts of volunteer time are always welcome.

2. Fill out a short enrollment form (only required once a year).

Hong Lok Senior Center’s primary site is located at 168 11th Street, in Oakland, walking distance from Lake Merritt BART station or the 12th Street BART station.

The satellite site is located at 261-11th Street on the edge of Lincoln Park, convenient for those with grandchildren enrolled at Lincoln Elementary School.
