The interest lead to a Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University. Presented with the option of pursuing either a research career or a clinical pathway, she chose the latter so that the acquired knowledge can be readily applied to patients afflicted with neurologic conditions.

At the Chicago Medical School, she continued doing research on thalamic nuclei earning a second Master of Science degree en route to her Medical Degree in 1999. Clinical specialty training in Neurology was done through an intense residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals through 2003.

Post doctoral training includes a mini Fellowship at Bowman Gray University in North Carolina.
