The hospital allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient’s choice (family member, friend, or another individual for emotional support during the course of stay) unless the individual’s presence infringes on others’ rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. Solely for purposes of visitation policy, the concept of parenthood is to be liberally construed without limitation as encompassing legal parents, foster parents, same-sex parent, step-parents, those serving in loco parents, and other persons operating in caretaker roles.

The hospital prohibits discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.

Visitors are welcome guests at our hospital and can help in the healing and adjustment process of our patients.

Special accommodations should be considered for visitors who have difficulty visiting during prescribed hours. Patient preference should be honored if the visitor action will not interrupt other patients’ rest.

Patients should be asked if the visitor(s) should step out of the room if a procedure or care is being conducted.

Activities on the unit, which might be uncomfortable for the visitor(s), must be taken under consideration in deciding whether a visitor should stay or step away for a period of time.

No more than two (2) visitors per room, unless the Clinical Manager, Nursing House Supervisor, or primary care nurse has granted special permission.

Employee and physicians should only visit patient care areas for business reasons in order to decrease the noise level and prevent the spread of infection.

Due to safety concerns, visitors are to be limited to those who have a legitimate reason to be at Moreno Valley Hospital.

Children under 14 years of age may be allowed to visit with special permission from the Clinical Manager, Nursing House Supervisor or primary care nurse. Any child with obvious infection or known exposure to contagious disease will be excluded from visiting.

Parents and grandparents may visit 24 hours a day. One parent or designated adult will be encouraged to stay with the child at all times to ensure their safety. Sleeping accommodations are provided for one parent/guardian. A guest food tray will be provided for the adult who spends the night and assists with care. When pediatric patients are being visited, a parent or designated adult must be present or the parent must have identified the visitor and approved the visit.

In the ICU/CCU, visiting is permitted 24 hours a day. Visitors will be instructed to use the telephones in the Visitors Waiting Room and in the front of the ICU/CCU doors prior to entering the unit.

Visitors are limited to one (1) person at the bedside, with special consideration given based on individual patient needs. The duration of the visit is at the discretion of the ED nurse and/or physician. A family member or visitor may be asked to leave the treatment area if the patient’s condition deteriorates. A family member or visitor may be asked to leave if he/she becomes unruly or disruptive to the patient or others in the department. Visitors are to utilize the Emergency Department Waiting Room and outside the hospital.

The father and/or significant other, siblings of the infant, and other family and friends may visit from 9am to 9pm. An adult must accompany children at all times. The main support person is not considered a visitor and should be encouraged to stay with the mother as much as possible. Children under the age of 14 years, excluding siblings, are not permitted to visit. There may be no more than three (3) visitors in the room at any one time, including the labor coach. The father or significant other may stay with the mother throughout her stay. Children may not stay overnight.

To prevent the transmission of communicable diseases, including seasonal influenza and epidemic episodes, the visitation policy should be strictly adhered to. Visitors presenting to the hospital with respiratory illness should be encouraged to stay home.
