Refreshing change not having to call for status, Heather not only kept in touch with me but in a timely manner. Had an electrical issue with a very original 1976 CB750. Owned and worked on 70's bike all my life and more competent than the average rider just could not figure this one out. Linza was able to resolve with experience and a troubleshooting path I would never have thought of. Judging by the variety of bikes and ATV's in for repairs and bikes I witnessed being picked up doubt there is much this shop cannot handle.Service:Electrical repair

D C: A good mechanic is hard to find. And a great bike shop is even harder to come by. But that's exactly what I found in VNC Bike Works.After topping out my SV650s in a race I heard a ticking in my V-Twin. I assumed it was a lifter or something else internal which is more than I am equipped to deal with. I asked the manger at Cycle Works if she could recommend a good mechanic in Modesto and she mentioned VNC.So I rode gently down to their shop to see if they could give it a listen. Keith and Jimmy gave me their full attention. Jimmy thought I might have chewed up the cam chain guides when I topped her out since she is built for mid-range torque not top end speed.They needed to dig deeper to give me an accurate estimate but I couldn't leave it with them because I didn't have a ride so Keith graciously offered to shuttle me home.The next day Jimmy emailed me an estimate based on his initial assessment. Replacing the guides would cost me a little under $900 because the gaskets would have to be replaced in the process and they were unavailable from aftermarket suppliers so we had to pay a premium at the dealership.Now I am normally very skeptical but for some reason I felt very comfortable with these guys so I signed an estimate and mechanics lien authorizing them to do up to $900 worth of work.The following day Jimmy called me with an incredibly detailed reassessment; apparently he had spent hours on internet forums that specialize in my bike; and also bought a service manual... all on his own time and dime. Apparently the automatic cam chain tensioner is a common point of failure on my bike. He also discovered that many racers replace it with manual versions.He also spent a lot of time with the tensioner and discovered that he could make the tick disappear adjusting it beyond the normal spec. He did all of this on his own time. His philosophy is that a customer should not be charged for him to educate himself on a bike he hasn't worked on before. He also believes that, “the only stupid question is one that is not asked”. So many mechanics make you feel stupid or afraid to question them but you never have to worry about that at VNC.So I am the big winner here. My bike runs smooth and quiet again for about a third of his original estimate. That’s right... even though they could have charged me up to $900 dollars, and I would have been happy to pay it, they only charged me for three shop hours and the actual cost of the parts; they didn't even mark them up!I know Jimmy spent a lot more time on my repair than I was charged. He also has great communication, accessibility and professionalism. It’s just a different business model than most bike shops with an emphasis on the customer not the bottom line.As you can tell from this long winded endorsement, I just can’t say enough about the folks at VNC Bike Works. Honesty and integrity are the hallmarks of this shop. Jimmy, Keith and Linda are awesome people. Thanks for everything!

John Reacher: I currently have my Monster in there for restoration, which is coming along fine. In the mean time I took my recently acquired Honda cb300 f in for aftermarket parts installed to include a lowering kit. All the parts, case savers, sliders, tires, fender eliminated etc. were done by the end of the day and it came back excellent. Yes he is not a Ducati dealership and he will tell you this. He is updating his show room currently, but there is a nice amount of Ducati's in there. Give him a try, I did and so far he's done a great job at a fair shop rate. Again in my reviews it's just my opinion. Go in and talk to Yasar.

Too Mini Followers: $135 for the diagnoses, but they were truthful...honestly! Told me why 1199 Panigale was throwing an engine code, paid them then I fixed myself. Part installed, code gone!.
