Operation School Bell provides new school uniforms to in-need Long Beach Unified School district students. Operation School Bell is the “safety net” that enables our schools to mandate uniforms. This program annually provides approximately 10,000 backpacks filled with new uniforms, undergarments and school supplies to Long Beach students.
The Orthodontic Program provides low-cost orthodontic treatment for children from families with limited financial resources. The Orthodontic Center’s administration, orthodontist, staff and Assistance League volunteers strive to provide comprehensive, quality orthodontic care in a personal and caring environment. The staff looks forward to helping their patients develop great smiles that will last a lifetime!

Annalisa Moral: We have been part of the Long Beach Stearns Kumon Family for about 4 years now and have been very happy with the growth and development of our children, who are currently 7 years old and 9 years old. My oldest son who is currently in 3rd grade began his Kumon journey when he was in Kindergarten.We initially started him with Reading only in order to develop his Reading and Vocabulary, but, after a year, we transitioned him into both Math and Reading. During his time in Kumon, I can honestly say Kumon has helped him develop a strong vocabulary base and has allowed him to become a proficient reader and writer. One aspect of Kumon that I believe is most beneficial for the student is the development of the daily routine and discipline of completing the work packets. These type of study habits to finish these Kumon packets on time gradually becomes ingrained into their daily routine which helps to develop discipline and a strong work ethic, which eventually can carry on to other aspects of academic life.Ms. Jila and her staff truly care about the academic success and learning of each child. Without reservation, I would recommend Kumon Long Beach Stearns for your child.

Kumon is a very effective curriculum that is executed at the Stearns Long Beach center with great care and kindness. I had previously observed how effective kumon was for a middle schooler I knew and sought it out when my own child needed extra help with basic math facts before the curriculum really sped up around multiplication in third grade. I've been thrilled with the way his number sense has developed along with his foundation in addition. It's also been an amazing exercise in discipline and the pay off of daily work towards a goal. The team of instructors administrators and assistants is caring and attentive. Five stars!

This program has helped my kids to excel at school. Other friends who have been with Kumon longer have told me that you really see the benefit down the years. Top Unit Tree Service: As a parent you only want the best for your kids and you want them to do there best in all aspects of life. I was searching different programs for my 2nd grader and came across the The tutoring center. I made an appointment with them I was so excited at how very informative they were and could really see that there number one priority were there students. There one on one really sold me. I’m very excited for my child and the great things this program has to offer.
Ishimine Stidhum: My son started at the tutoring center in January of this year by May his reading had improved by almost a whole grade level. Now my child is reading with more confidence and enjoys reading. He no longer treats reading as a chore or punishment. I am happy with the results and I am thankful to everyone at the tutoring center.

We thought it was going to be hard and difficult but it was easy he said ! It took him only eight months to get his high school diploma! And he had to only go to school only three times a week! We really like the staff,the teacher's and his counseling mr. Gonzalez! And his graduation was really nice he graduated with his classmates it was truly awesome ! So basically it's a nice school!

I like how we all get together for the best interest of the student. I have nothing but the upmost respect for this school and it's staff.

Kenya Ware: The BEST KUMON and my 7yr old sons test scores PROVE IT. We started working with Ms Ange Regis over 1 yr old where my son was struggling with Math & Reading fur to not putting him into the right School. Most teachers in the private school sector are not even college graduate and not qualified to even teach any kids don’t follow the appropriate curriculum. Needless to say we were in serious trouble while we got to Kumon and Ms Angeshe promised me she would get my son on his grade level. Now almost a year and a half later my seven-year-old son is doing fifth grade math and he’s reading is above his grade level. I am also a mother to an older child who went through that sylvan learning center program in the 90s that never worked and I also tried out the Cal State Long Beach Summer reading program that didn’t work. I stand strong on KUMON and I believe that with the right director like Ms Ange, Who really cares for each of her students and he is committed to their success. Thank you Kumon and Ms Ange For being a part of our success story.
Sandy Liang: I'm so happy that we decided to enroll our boys at Kumon. My older son has just finished 3rd he is now doing work that is above is grade level currently he is doing 4.5 grade level. As for the younger one he us almost at 3rd grade level. He just finsished 1st grade.
marlenn alba: I enrolled my nephew in Kumon at the beginning of his Kinder year because I noticed that he was needing a little more practice and the school curriculum was kind of all over the place. From the beginning, Ms. Ange had so much patience with him. She started him off with the basics and slowly built up his work. His penmanship has significantly improved. His retainment of letters and numbers has also drastically improved. I can honestly say that if it weren’t for Ms. Ange and the wonderful tutors at Kumon, my nephew would still be struggling in kinder. Thankfully, his teacher has also seen his improvement and we’re moving on to first grade! I highly recommend Kumon to anyone who wants to invest in their children’s education. We will be continuing with Kumon through the summer so my nephew doesn’t get out of the rhythm and hopefully we will continue throughout the rest of his k-12!

The BEST investment we made in our children was sending them to her Kumon Center. We now have two grandchildren and I look forward to sending them too. Myrna Pena-Arnaut: My child was having trouble in his math class in middle school. He did not do well as an independent learner during covid when the schools were closed down. I tried to help him myself & progress was slow for him. I reached out to Sylvan Learning Center for help. The site director gave us a tour of the center & explained how it works. They did a math assessment & explained the results to me. The director gave us a plan on how we could bring him up to grade level.My child has been in the program for a month & his self confidence & attitude has significantly improved. He likes going to his sessions, he feels he is making progress.The director also gives frequent progress reports so I know what is going on. The staff is friendly and the equipment is current with technology. It's a good investment for your students future to attend if you can.

She breaks down the study plan and gives us detailed information about what tools will help our son. Due to the Pandemic alot of our children have some gaps that need to be filled that it challenging to get in school. This program fills those gaps and takes your child to the next level. Rot Tan (Rothana): My daughter started the reading and vocabulary program a little after the school year had just started. She was struggling and not having the type of confidence that she should have had going into the second grade. The distance learning the year before definitely attributed to that. With just two hours a week, we see an improvement instantly. Her teacher notices a big change in confidence and participation. We get to see how she has progressed through the program with their monthly assessments. Fast forward to the end of the school year and she's reading into the third and fourth grade levels. She will be starting the writing program for the summer and we couldn't be more excited for her. I am happy that we found a program that my daughter enjoys. We couldn't have made a better decision in choosing Sylvan for our daughter.

My meeting at the end of month one was like a miracle had happened. The words they used to describe my son was the EXACT opposite I've ever been told. The program is very expensive, that is the only downside. But it is the only one that has allowed my son to flourish in learning!

Mikado Shokai: I've been going there for about 25 years, but vintage bikes and parts are getting less and less every year.The parking lot is also quiet, and the number of visitors is about one-third compared to the peak? I look forward to the future revival.

Ashley Beau (Ursula): As an older student, I felt pretty out of place here, and my social awkwardness did have some setbacks where it shouldn’t have. On the other hand, if you actually are trying here, you will be treated right by admin, especially as a dss student. Honestly, after going to another cc where the academia dark side kicked in, I appreciated Lbcc even more. Keep an eye on this school. They have major setbacks from the local public school system, but what they do as a school, should they get past that, will set them leaps and bounds over all other local cc campuses. Oh, and maybe start a forensics team, to be competitive.
