Long Beach Animal Emergency provides state-of-the-art, compassionate care for you and your pet. Our facility is equipped to handle any emergency and has a wide array of tools and experience to put to work for your pet.
Dr. Heather Mineo completed her residency in small animal emergency and critical care medicine in 2007 after graduating valedictorian of her class at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and finishing a small animal medicine and rotating surgery internship in New York City.
She has enjoyed the last several years working for a large multi-specialty veterinary group in the Los Angeles area and recently changed roles to become the Medical Director for Long Beach Animal Emergency. Dr. Mineo has special interests in trauma, wound management, sepsis, and soft tissue surgery. She also has extensive experience in endoscopy, ultrasound, and intensive care medicine.
When she is not at work, Dr. Mineo can be found on various sports fields watching her children play, traveling with her family, and exploring modern art and architecture. In addition, she enjoys Broadway shows, live music, reading, wine, and her new hobby, ax throwing.
Dr. Corrie Kerr discovered her true calling in veterinary medicine by taking the road a little less traveled. After beginning a career in architecture (& concurrently volunteering at the local humane society in her spare time), it didn’t take long for her to realize that her genuine passion was in caring for animals.
She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western University of Health Sciences. Following graduation, she completed a year-long small animal rotating internship at an emergency & specialty referral hospital in Irvine. It was there that she developed a strong interest in emergency medicine.
Originally from Ohio, Dr. Kerr currently resides in the Long Beach area with her husband & their fur children (two cats & a pittie mix). When not working, she enjoys spending time with family & friends, crafting, traveling, hiking & being outdoors in the beautiful SoCal sunshine.
Dr. Beeh’s passion for veterinary medicine grew while he was working in the field as a veterinary technician. He started at an all-cat general practice prior to branching out into emergency medicine. Dr. Beeh attended the Western University of Health Sciences and graduated in 2012. He then joined Long Beach Animal Emergency where he enjoys the dynamic of emergency medicine, especially emergency surgery. Although Dr. Beeh is a softie for kittens, he is almost always accompanied by his shadow, Jay the Pit Bull. In his spare time, Dr. Beeh enjoys running, hiking, snowboarding, gaming, and experimenting with his fish tanks.
Dr. Ravi Srungaram is a Southern California native who grew up in Long Beach. Dr. Srungaram grew up working at his father’s veterinary practice which built his love for the profession. He majored in Biology at Loyola Marymount University before going to UC Davis for his DVM in 2015.
When not working, he enjoys playing basketball, running, and spending time with friends and family. His favorite dog breed is the Malamute.
Dr. Perino grew up in a suburb of Chicago with a love for animals. She received her bachelor’s from the University of Notre Dame and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. She then went on to complete a rotating internship, specializing in emergency and exotic animal medicine.
In her free time, she enjoys working out, watching movies, going to the beach, and spending time with her partner and their rescue pup – Jojo.
Dr. Manami Kawakita always had a passion for animals since she was a small kid and grew up taking care of dogs, stray cats, lizards, and caterpillars.
She was born in Japan and moved to the United States when she was 11 years old. Lacey Mitchell: Three weeks ago, I rushed my English Bulldog in because he started having trouble breathing and ultimately collapsed from lack of oxygen. I lost my baby, he didn't make it! But I am still grateful for this establishment and their efforts to revive him. The DR. who saw my SnAxX was extremely compassionate and thorough on her findings to help me understand why it all happened. The staff was very patient with me and my kids in helping me to make final arrangements for my baby as we were extremely emotional. They also allowed my family to take all the time we needed in our private room to say our goodbyes. Yesterday I picked up my baby's ashes in a beautiful urn and a wood engraved plank with his actual paw print. Thank you for all of your help during this time with our incredible loss.- SnAxX's Mommy

Amy Woodward: This place is great for your emergency pet needs. When I went, there weren't a lot of patients ahead of us, there was still a bit of a wait, but I don't know who was being seen prior to my arrival. I took a friend who had a cat in distress. The vet was thorough and offered great advice and treatment. We were quoted one price that was kind of high, but expected in an ER. But when it was all said and done, the price wasn't as much as they initially quoted, so that was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. While I prefer to take my own fur kids to their regular vet, sometimes it's just not possible, but my vet office recommends this animal hospital, to me, that's an even better endorsement than anything I can say here.

CINTYA ENCISO: The only reason I give it a four is because I was there to euthanize my dog. My dog was old, blind and seizing every two hours. He was suffering. I called different places for euthanasia service and many said by appointment only and some said they were booked until 03/31/23. I needed to end my dogs suffering today. So, I was referred to Long Beach Animal Emergency. I called in advance and explained the situation. Very calmly the receptionist explained to me the steps and procedures. They gave me an estimate and well they made me feel that I could trust them to end my dogs suffering. When we arrived, my son had our dog in his arms and Alexa one of the receptionists stood up and met my son halfway and took our dog into her arms and rushed him to a room. They did not force any x-rays, lab work or examinations. They knew it was time for him to go. They prepped him and gave me time to say goodbye and when it was time, they were quick, and my dog peacefully crossed over to rainbow bridge. They gave me more alone time after he had passed but I did not need it. my dog was no longer suffering. Thank you for your help and compassion.
Celia Valdez: My pet had a very bad allergic reaction. The staff and vet were very friendly and compassionate to my feelings and took care of my pet with much care. Her face face is back to normal.

Avery Auman: If you’re searching for an incredible vet, don’t look any farther than Bixby Animal Clinic.Let me start this review with a little bit of background: I have two senior dogs, one with a laundry list of pre existing conditions ranging from new to old and minor to severe. I had been using one vet in another city for the majority of my dogs’ lives, but needed a new vet after moving.I was nervous to switch vets, and had trialed another vet in the area that didn’t go well. We had a few big things I knew we needed to schedule, so I decided to give Bixby a call.Dr. O’Neill completely put my mind at ease. She took as much time as was needed to fully understand my dogs and address each concern with thoughtful solutions. When there are as many moving parts as my dog has, this is no easy feat. She provides a level of detail and care that I truly haven’t experienced anywhere else. I’ve had dogs my whole life, and the level of service and dedication is unparalleled with any other vet I’ve had.But it’s not just Dr. O’Neill who makes Bixby great - the entire staff is incredible. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful, keeping the lobby area moving at a good pace. The technicians are always knowledgeable and thorough. I want to give a special mention to James, who is nothing short of an absolute delight and took incredible care of my pups before, during, and after a stressful procedure.All in all, I could not be happier with Bixby Animal Clinic. Taja Kartio: My poor Binx was limping badly and it turned out he had a pretty gnarly infection from a cut between his toes. I brought him into Bixby last minute and it was by far the best vet experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was extremely gentle, compassionate, and understanding when it came to the care of my fur baby. They checked in with me days after he’d been in and were just as courteous with his post-care. Very grateful to the Bixby staff. I’ll be going to them for all my vet needs in the future!

Stacy “Tooty”: This was our first time bringing one of our pups, Bambi, to this vet. From the time we walked in till we left it was the best experience we've ever had at a veterinary office. The receptionist, the techs, Dr. Naef and my favorite, Cristal "the closer", took exceptional care of us and our pup. Dr. Naef spent a ton of time with us going over Bambi's xrays and discussing her treatment. We have since received several calls checking up on Bambi. We will definitely be back with our other pets moving forward.
Priscilla Egbe: Off the bat noticed the clinic was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere which was a relief for me with my dog in the bad state he was in. Everyone from the receptionist to the nurses, aids and doctors were accommodating and supportive . Dr. Coulier took so much time over the phone with me to help me understand what was going on with my dog. She was genuine, supportive, and didn’t try to pressure me to make any decisions I was not sure of like so many vets do. Great bed side manners. I also interacted with Malia who checked me and my dog in. She made me feel comfortable enough to let them take my dog to the back. Kylia also helped to show us how to administer medication to our dog. She was patient and kind and seemed to care about my dog whom she spent time with. Bixby Animal Clinic made this the best possible experience for my family and I with our beloved despite the condition he was in. The staff at Bixby Animal Clinic was definitely the silver lining during these hard times for my family and I. I do not live in the area but plan to return here for check ups for my other two pets. Thank you to each of you for making us feel welcome and putting us at ease. This is how people who work with animals should be. Don’t see enough of this excellent work ethic in other local animal clinics.
Natasha Kappaya: with an issue for my pet I was concerned about, Anais from Bixby Clinic helped me and made me feel at ease! She got me booked in for the same day, and I was even more impressed when I came into the clinic. It’s super nice and spacious, and everyone is very kind. I’ll be making this my regular vet moving forward.
anthony billingsley: I’ll give Bixby Animal Clinic more than just 5 stars if I was able to . From the moment I walked in I was welcomed with kindness and Joy. My dog had me scared thinking he had a seizure and the two front ladies at the desk called for emergency and everyone came running out within seconds and all rushed to help my dog mamba . Lucky enough with they help everything was okay and he is fine they took they time with him and showed him love
Ariel Alston: and of estimate cost of the additional things I believed my pet would need before I'd even arrived at their facility. Another great thing is the urgent care cost was then applied to the services I moved forward with making the care more affordable. Most vets have that exam/urgent/emergency fee as an additional cost not put towards anything.They were upfront the entire time about costs, just ask. Even if you don't ask they send an estimate via email and you are allowed to decline or move forward with individual things on that bill. So again not sure where the anger from cost is coming from when they were very upfront about it!As for my full experience I was looking on a sunday to get my dog seen which already meant many places including our normal vet was closed. I happened upon Bixby by chance and was really glad I did, they were the only facility to actually pick up their phones and got me and my pup in in under 30mins

Garett Simcox: Solid 5 stars for service. The people are fantastic and the service is excellent. You won’t be disappointed by coming here. In fact I’ll be back again soon for a spay. The price is why they get a star dinged. They are pricey, but I believe they are worth the extra payment.Also I got in on the same day for an extra fee. So worth it!

Dr Grey was super helpful he recognized what might be wrong with him and gave me options, he stayed in intensive care a few days they were amazing with call backs and care along with being super efficient! This is the place to go when you have a pet emergency!!
Alison Clay-Duboff: My beautiful old dog was desperately ill and I was desperately upset. Access not only cared for her but me too! Nicole was amazing and I was allowed to visit my doggy. I feel my dog received better medical attention than most MDs provide their patients!!!
Ashley Berdini: My cat bit into an Easter Lily that someone had mistakenly brought over to our house & I immediately brought him here. It was 9pm and they took us in immediately and were extremely quick with knowing to induce vomiting and put him on an IV to flush out the toxins. Throughout his 3 day stay here, they answered my paranoid calls every 3 hours at the first ring and were extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Any time I had a question - they would put the vet on the phone to explain to me. They even trimmed his front and back claws while he was there free of charge without me asking. Access South Bay took amazing care of our cat and potentially saved his life. I will say that it was A LOT more expensive than I had anticipated and I'm not sure what they charged was correct bc I know nothing about how much these services should cost, but thankfully we have pet insurance and I would have paid anything to keep my baby alive.

Ola Tanaka: Had my cat examined here for a stomach issue. The vet called for a diet change and so far, things are looking good.
John Burns: I switched vets after the not so good treatment I got from there. This place is compassionate and takes good care of my two dogs. Would recommend.

Alvina: I love the service here They're really calm and know how to explain very well to us about our dog. They have a far price because the first place I went to was about to charge us 2000+ for just checking him.

Linzee Diaz: My dog got incredibly sick. We were notified by a different vet that we should humanely euthanize him. We were recommend to this place and we are truly grateful for it. They treated my dog with respect and dignity even in his last moments. The vets were so kind to us while we were mourning which made the process a bit easier. A few days later we received a sympathy card. If you want your pet to be treated as humanely as possible I would highly recommend this place. Thank you Crossroads Animal Emergency team for everything.
Iris Abarca: I have taken my moms dog here couple of times, and they have been very nice every time. Sadly, this last time my dog did t make it. His heart was just too weak. The entire staff and Dr. Camuso were extremely sweet and caring during this hard process. Thank you to the entire staff to be there during those moments 💔
