Christy Westphal: The biggest thing I can say about Jill and Underdogs is that they are great! I have a fearful rescue that Jill came out to help me work with my dog to better function in this world. Jill gave me lots of homework to do which has given my little one a lot more confidence. The techniques Jill uses are so simple and so gentle. There is no harsh punishment. All associations are positive. Just what my dog needed. We continue to work on the things Jill taught us. We can call her whenever we need a refresher. Jill always gets back to us quickly with any questions we may come up with which is nice. We don't have to sit there wondering when we will get an answer. I cannot recommend Underdogs Long Beach enough.
Claire Peterson: We hired Jill in 2021 after we adopted a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix who was rescued in Baja, Mexico. We wanted a "Force-Free" trainer and Jill is in Long Beach, CA like us, so it was a perfect fit! Jill scheduled a Zoom consultation and we ended up doing 4 sessions of training. Our dog Canela is super-sweet, very playful, and just had a couple of issues we found with guarding me from my husband at certain times, and being hostile/fearful toward new dogs. We had friends bring their dogs over to work with us so that we could do slow, controlled introductions. Now Canela adores her two best buddies and has the time of her life playing with them! Jill also has a list of recommended books on animal behavior that helped us to understand differences in dog vs. human behavior. We now understand our dog so much more, so we are able to adjust our behavior so that she knows we are not threatening her. She has been with us for over a year now and we are completely in love, and she is happy, healthy, and thriving! Jill has a wonderful way with dogs AND people, and we love that she teaches how to reinforce your dog's desired behaviors, rather than punishing them for "bad" or unwanted behaviors. She wants to know what behaviors you want to manage and creates a custom plan for your puppy and your lifestyle that is based on research, responsive, and always fun. And she genuinely cares! So she's flexible and able to continuously adjust the training plan as your puppy grows. We love working with Jill and would recommend her to anyone with a new puppy!

ItsElizard: Jill helped me with Soybean's separation anxiety. Bean was an pandemic puppy and since I was working from home it made it difficult to establish a routine that would help make her more comfortable when I do have to go back to the office. Jill helped me identify signs on anxiety and helped set me up with a schedule that would slowly acclimate her to a normalcy. I feel completely at ease during my travels, knowing that my fur babies are in a safe and enjoyable place! One of my girls needs daily eye drops and the Pet Set staff handles this with ease. All four, get to slumber in the same spacious room together. When I return, they are happy, relaxed, and bathed! I should also mention that my pups are happy when I drop them at The Pet Set. They don't even look back while I'm saying my goodbyes! I can't ask for more!I also use the grooming services and have never been disappointed. The cuts I request are the cuts that are delivered. 😀Again, I can't recommend The Pet Set highly enough. The owner and staff are top-notch.
