Before Arelia Goods Farm came into existence Red the farmer, with an undeniable green thumb, began growing vegetables simply to reduce the consumption of genetically modified, pesticide sprayed produce. Her face began to shine with joy and she said, "oh that's so nice." As a little girl, I remember pecans falling into my Grandmother Minnie's yard in Atlanta, Georgia where pecans are plentiful. Voilà! this was the perfect symbol to honor my Mother Juanita who is like a Georgia pecan, i.e., a brown flavorful, good-quality southern nut that stays fresh if kept cool.

When it came to naming the business we chose Arelia, which means gold, golden, gold-colored, and is pronounced awe-rell-lia.
