4worldlovers: The Salt Eaters Bookshop is an independent bookstore in Inglewood, Ca prioritizing books, comics, and zines by and about Black women, girls, femmes, and gender expansive people. ​Inspired by The Salt Eaters by Toni Cade Bambara, our shop is working to create a resting ground for us all, a place to come home.

A Booksical is a picture book, play and musical rolled into one! Booksicals bring the magic of picture books, music and theater together to improve reading skills, enhance social emotional learning and bring arts into the classroom.

Our process: First we create a picture book. Then we develop the book into a short children’s musical play. We make the musical into an animated musical video with songs, narration and subtitles that entertains while building reading skills and gets kids excited about performing the story. Booksicals can be enjoyed on their own and they are also part of our wonderful digital classroom kits.

When kids perform a Booksical they get excited about reading and that’s what its all about!
