The Hermosa Beach Community Theatre is a 502-seat theatre & a favorite venue for youth musical theatre groups, film premieres, dance productions, & a variety of shows that offer residents of Hermosa Beach the chance to experience the wonders of cultural arts.


The 2nd Story Theatre is an intimate venue with 80 seats and frequently used for professional & community performances, conferences & seminars.

On October 22, 2019, the City Council awarded DLR Group a contract to conduct a Community Theatre Needs Assessment. The assessment evaluated operations and infrastructure and provided options and costs for two scenarios; a major renovation of the facility that would transform it into a regional performing arts center and a conservative renovation that would maintain the community-focus of the facility. On September 29, 2020 the DLR Group presented the Community Theatre Market and Needs Assessment Report to the Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Advisory Commission and the City Council at a Joint Study Session. 4worldlovers: Founded in 1929, the Assistance League Theater is one of the oldest continuously performing children’s theaters in the United States. Our mission for 92 years has been to introduce children to the magic of live performance, literature and music through the joy of theatre.

The Nine O’Clock Players (“NOP”) Theatre for Children Program annually hosts more than 12,000 children from the Los Angeles area. NOP provides two full musical productions of classic children’s literature with life lessons adapted for children today. Field trips to the theater, at no or low cost, are provided to school children and families, particularly low-income and special needs students who might not be otherwise exposed to the magic of live theatre. During the pandemic, NOP even developed virtual performances and educator resources to provide meaningful arts enrichment that brings the magic of theatre into your home!

Based on the classic fairy tale, Cinderella: The True Story tells the story of the kind-hearted Cinderella who fights for a world where everyone from tailors to kings learns that bigger isn’t always better and that to truly be rich we should all share what we have. This delightful musical production has singing, dancing, princes in disguise, and a fairy godmother who doesn’t always get things right.

The Nine O’Clock Players’ Magical Theatre Experience is a collection of video performances, educational videos, and tutorials including behind-the-scenes information on all aspects of theatre production such as costumes, makeup, acting, choreography, set design, props, sound, lighting and writing plays. The free videos include interactive segments to engage children to think critically about what they see. It’s a fun and educational virtual learning experience for kids, parents and educators.
