When Julia Morgan first saw the completed stained glass windows created by her famed stained glass artist Marian Simpson at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland in 1928, she exclaimed "Oh, it's bee-you-tee-ful!" Since founding the Sea of Glass Studios in 1986, Margaret has dedicated herself to creating original works of stained glass art, or repairing existing ones, with the same care and skill that Julia Morgan became famous for. Margaret has religiously followed Julia Morgan's office motto, "Attention to detail", since the beginning of her practice. Over a period of six years, Sea of Glass Studios has completed the painstaking restoration of 670 windows within the 79 chapels Julia Morgan created at Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum, a City of Oakland Historic Landmark. Margaret also designed sixty skylights for the newly redone Julia Morgan Chapel there. For this important project, she incorporated Julia Morgan's own tile designs at Hearst Castle, with her favorite fleur-de-lis pattern in celadon colors. This new chapel opened in 2005.

Margaret's Sea of Glass Studios has completed a wide variety of stained glass commissions, and her crew has extensive experience in all the major categories of stained glass work; repairing historic church windows, replicating existing stained glass windows in public buildings, and designing and manufacturing of new stained and beveled glass windows and entryways for residences.

Some of Margaret's recent commissions include Saint Peter's Church in Oakland, where Sea of Glass removed, repaired, and re-installed three large buckled stained glass windows; repairing historic stained glass windows at both Holy Names University and Mills College in Oakland; a new beveled glass entryway for a custom built home in Alamo; a new stained glass window for an architect-designed residence in Castro Valley; and the upcoming restoration of the historic stained glass windows in the 1872 landmark Saint Patrick's Church in San Francisco, which will involve a complete restoration of all of the stained glass windows in the entry doors. Sea of Glass Studios also does emergency on-site repairs of stained and beveled glass.
