Certification is through the Samuel Kwok Martial Arts Association. Chief Instructor, Master Bryan Talbot, is the US Representative for Grandmaster Samuel Kwok Martial Arts Association, the only disciple of both Ip Man’s sons, the late Ip Ching and Ip Chun. Our instructors are certified, hold valid teaching permits and undergo rigorous instructor training.

Wing Chun 詠春 Kung Fu is a martial arts system that originated in Southern China. A female nun, Ng Moi, created the art, and Grandmaster Ip Man later modified it when living in Hong Kong. Bruce Lee, a student of Grandmaster Ip Man and one of the world’s most recognized martial artists, popularized Wing Chun in the United States during the middle of the twentieth century. He used Wing Chun as the foundation of his particular fighting style and philosophy, Jeet Kuen Do.

More recently, the success of the Ip Man movies rekindled interest in Wing Chun across the world.

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a system of self-defense and empowerment based on Principles and Concepts that can be applied in both scopes. As a system of self-defense, the art makes use of scientific principles to overcome force of a bigger and stronger opponent. Additionally, it utilizes short-range power and sensitivity of touch, as seen through the use of Chi Sau or Sticky Hands.

The Core Principles of Wing Chun are Relaxation, Center-line, Economy, Facing and Yin/Yang. Great emphasis is placed on concepts of efficiency, structure, power, and speed. Wing Chun makes use of quick, changing angles, simultaneous attack and defense, agile footwork and low, practical kicks.


Wing Chun’s open hand forms are Siu Lim Tao (Little Idea Form), Chum Kiu (Seeking the Bridge Form), and Biu Gee (Thrusting Fingers Form). The Wing Chun weapons are the Luk Dim Boon Kwun (6 1/2 Point Long Pole), and the Baat Cham Do (Eight Cutting Knives). We also practice form on the Wing Chun Wooden Dummy.

Wing Chun’s traditional training equipment are the Wing Chun Wooden Dummy, Tripodal (Kicking) Dummy, and Wall Bag.

The knowledge Coach Paulson has amassed in his lifelong pursuit of martial arts training is truly unrivaled. To be a part of his lineage is a privilege. He is a rare link to pure BJJ and Submission Wrestling.

Myself, husband, and 8 year old son have been members of CSW for several years. We initially enrolled our son in their kids MMA program when he was 5. My husband and I were members of another gym and didn’t intend on joining.

The amazing trainers, coaches, atmosphere, and family friendly environment were amazing and too much to resist. Now, all three members of our family are full time members! We all train at least 3-4 days a week.

The classes are amazing! The workouts are great for anyone, from a fitness novice, to a MMA conditioned athlete, to a UFC fighter. My husband and son also train and compete in jiu-jitsu tournaments at least four times per year. CSW has shown them the skills, trained them hard, and conditioned them to win those tournament medals!

I’ve been taking my sons (5 & 7 years old) to CSW for three months now and have been so happy with the decision.
