4worldlovers: Animal Rescue of Fresno (ARF) was established in 1998 by a group of community members in Fresno, CA that wanted to do something about the high number of homeless dogs that were dying because no one gave them a chance to find their forever home.


ARF began its operations out of a small facility on Belmont Ave and Highway 99. ARF moved to its current location on Dakota Avenue in 2005. From its humble beginnings, ARF has grown quickly, so that more and more dogs each year can be rescued and adopted out to loving forever homes.

Providing a temporary home for dogs, cats, puppies or kittens is a critical role in saving the many animals that need our help. Puppies and kittens need tender loving care while growing and kept safe until they are ready to find a forever home.

Shy dogs are often just a little insecure but the sweetest little things under all that fear. It’s a big scary world and our Wallflower Group meets every Wednesday evening to socialize the little guys and give them that boost of confidence they need to find a home.

Need to get some exercise? Our dogs do too. Come on down, in the early mornings and you can catch a “boss walk” happening. Grab a leash and a dog and go for an exhilarating 2 mile walk with a dog that is very grateful.

Our Rescue Group Saves Cats In High Kill Shelters Who Have Less Than Five Days Prior To Being Killed


We are a rescue, not a shelter. We do not kill any animals here at our rescue. In fact, we do not advocate the killing of animals and wish all shelters would adopt a "no kill" policy. Many of the animals that we rescue end up living out their days here, as some are not adoptable, which may be due to their age, medical issues, socialization issues, or inability to handle children or other animals. Some are also pets that have been unwanted by relatives when their owners have passed on.


We try to facilitate the adoption of all animals referred to us that we feel would be good companions. Also, we try to help those that are in transition to find foster homes while they are seeking permanent adoption. You should know that we are very selective about which animals we bring into our rescue so that they will adapt well with the ones already residing here.
