Formed in 1996, Afghan Coalition is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization. We are dedicated to strengthening Afghan families, improving their access to social services, and building a strong and united Afghan American community.

The collapse of the Afghan government in August 2021 has traumatized Afghans globally, causing an unprecedented refugee crisis. We are responding in multiple ways with every resource we can muster.


All Afghans, especially the new arrivals, must cope with the affects of coming from a war zone. They suffer from PTSD and other afflictions. Our Wellness Program helps them heal and strengthens their mental health.

Afghan women and men often suffer silently from sexual and domestic violence. They often trapped and told that resources do not exist to assist them. Our Domestic Violence program provides a safe place for victims and culturally competent counseling with support group and refer them to resources that exist.

On a quarterly basis, health topics unique to the Afghan Community are discussed by medical professionals and service providers, educators and community leaders. There is an archive of past meetings.

We have partnered with the California Public Utilities Commission offering programs that help lower utility bills (TEAM & CHANGES). We also offer referrals for tax preparation, housing, and other practical assistance.

Since 2007, the Afghan Coalition's emerging microenterprise program has offered training in handicrafts, business training and English classes to women and men who have been underserved by the existing entrepreneurship training programs.

Our youth workers are bilingual, culturally competent, trained community helpers who provide many services such as after-school tutoring/mentoring and sports activities. We also provide cultural counseling for parents and youth.
