4worldlovers: Birds Landing Shooting Sports is a full-service, world-class upland game hunting preserve and Sporting Clays facility. Located in the sleepy town of Birds Landing, California, it operates on approximately 1100 acres of prime habitat adjacent to the Suisun Marsh, the largest contiguous brackish water wetland in western North America. The marsh is where fresh water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta meets salt water from San Francisco Bay. We are in close proximity to the Napa Valley Wine Country, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the historic Gold Country of the Sierra Foothills. Birds Landing is a destination facility for shooting enthusiasts from all over the world.

Birds Landing Hunting Preserve offers both pheasant and chukar as the primary game bird. Our property is diverse and maintained solely for upland gamebird hunting. Trained bird dogs are a must, and for those not able to bring their own, excellent rental dogs and/or guided hunts are available. In the background is Mount Diablo, which provides a picturesque and unforgettable scenery on every hunt.

Birds Landing Sporting Clays features two fully automated Sporting Clays courses and a Competition 5-Stand. The courses are easily the most popular among clay shooters in Northern California. Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and old train tracks, you will feel like you have stepped into a world where new and old are colliding together. The courses are dynamically set to both reward and challenge shooters of all skill types.

4worldlovers: The Club is closed to all activities for the month of June, while we take a little vacation time, rest and recuperate, after the past season.


Thank you for another wonderful Season at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve. Although we are now on our Off-Season schedule, we are still open for Chukar Hunts, dog training in our fields, private events, trap shooting, fishing and overnight camping. We hope that you will continue to come visit us and use your Club during the Off-Season.

The Club’s Off-Season Schedule is: Wednesday through Sunday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

We are closed during the Off-Season on Monday’s and Tuesday’s for all activities.

We are accepting deposits for the 2023 – 2024 Season. A deposit made now for the coming season ensures that you receive the best pricing on your bird card and prepaid pheasant cleaning. Possibly more importantly, it ensures your membership for the coming season (assuming you pay off your balance in time!) We have closed the membership early the past few years. Don’t procrastinate and miss out!

Established for the 1968-1969 hunting season, Hastings Island Hunting Preserve is a State licensed, Zone B, pheasant club located 70 miles east of San Francisco and 35 miles southwest of Sacramento. Nestled in California’s Sacramento / San Joaquin Delta on Hastings Island, this private ranch contains an expansive 4,700 acres, with over 800 acres dedicated solely to prime upland bird cover. The balance of this family farming operation is occupied by Hastings Island Land Company, which provides a rich habitat of Delta irrigated alfalfa, corn, wheat and safflower.

Putah Creek Wildlife Area is 673 acres of gently sloping to steep hillsides of cottonwood riparian, blue oak woodland, and chamise chaparral natural communities. Just a few of the species supported by these habitats include California towhee, Bullock's oriole, and black-headed grosbeak. This area is just downstream of the Monticello dam, where Cold Creek enters Putah Creek, and includes Stebbins' Cold Canyon Reserve.

The area was burned in the summer of 2020 during the LNU Complex fire and in 2015 during the Wragg fire. These ecosystems are fire adapted but keeping to established trails will hasten recovery.
